Lifting

I have an 18 month old who is a solid 25 pounds or more and I lift him obviously on the regular but I was wondering what are your limits? when I was pregnant with him I didn't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk in fear but this time around being a SAHM with a toddler I'm constantly lugging him and groceris, laundry up and down 3 flights, etc. I was easy on myself in the first tri but mainly bc I was so sick but now I'm wondering if I'm doing too much. (Although I don't have much of a choice bc this stuff has to get done). Does heavy lifting just hurt the momma or does it hurt the baby also? Any experience and advice is helpful!
 
Most doctors will tell you to keep doing what your body is already comfortable with... Once you get big, it becomes harder to do those things, but as long as you aren't straining yourself, you should be okay.
 
^ what they said. I had ONE doctor say nothing over 5 lbs and then I had my OB tell me to relax and do things as I normally would, but not in excess of my son's weight (35 lbs). and to do that VERY limitedly and always bending and lifting from my knees, not my back.
 
According to my doctors and midwives, you will know when you're overdoing it, way before you do anything that could hurt baby. If you're not high risk, do what you're used to doing. Your muscles will continue to develop as your toddler goes. My kids are 3, 2 and 1. I've just recently stopped carrying all three at once, but I still carry two toddlers at a time (up to about 60 lbs)
