Hey ladies,

I'm new to third tri (in the sense that I've been lurking around second tri for longer than I should!) and just after a few words of wisdom.

I've just been to the loo for a #2 (slightly constipated as on iron tablets for anaemia) and when I wiped I had some pinky blood on the tissue - definitely from the front, not the back :( I've had similar a few times earlier on in the pregnancy and mostly stayed quite calm but having not seen it for a while its unsettled me a bit! Baby is wriggling around so I'm sure everythings fine but just wondered if others have had similar experiences?

I've put a pad on to keep an eye on the situation.

I would call your midwife to be safe.

But, it is likely cervical irritation from pushing very hard (I'm on the tablets for anemia as well so I totally understand).

I'm not sure if this is your first, but when you push for the baby to come out, it's pushing to go for a poo which really helps the vaginal muscles push the baby out. So, sort of the same thing  The strain from taking a very difficult #2 can cause spotting in the vagina.

You will want to increase your intake of constipation-friendly foods in the meantime while on the iron!

I had the same 2 nights ago, i'm also constipated and have been for some weeks (despite everything i try!)

My MW just said to watch and see and i didn't have any more. My bowel was so full i'm pretty sure i just irritated my cervix - hope the same with you.

This happened to me at 32 weeks. I rung delivery suite and they said if it didn't get any heavier, I didn't get pain and baby was moving ok to say at home for a couple of hours and put a pad on to monitor it then ring back. 2 hours later it was more brown then stopped overnight they think I just irritated my cervix.

Best to ring midwives just to be on the safe side tho x
