lo doesnt know how to drink from the bottle!

What can I do? Its not that he won't he simply can't. He tries but after 20 mins he has only had 1/2 an oz and is so frustrated he starts screaming. Any advice?

Try a bigger teat size, we had a nightmare with this at first, tried different sizes, variable ones and then cut some. It's all trial and error, as long as LO is spilling a tiny bit then the speed is right!

Hes how old? Is he breastfeed? If so, you can try using a sippy or a regular cup. My daughter never understood how to drink from a bottle, she can drink from a sippy, we did at first remove the plastic piece that makes them suck (reducing flow) so it was free flowing. Than once she learned it was to drink, we put it back in

He might be having trouble getting a good "grip" on the nipple. I use Gerber Latex Nipples - with silicone, my girls have a hard time getting a vacuum going, and the nipples are vented so they don't have to come off to let air in.

I have a breastfed baby who refused bottles. After persisting, we r finally getting somewhere with MAM bottles and a bit of jigging to start with. If its just he is struggling to get milk out, I'd try a faster flow teat and see how he does

I just posted about this!!! I'm so excited, my lo seemed to ” try” but couldn't figure out or just didn't want to drink from the bottle. I JUST tried the ADIRI nurser and he took it!

Maybe it's the type of teat he's struggling with? I'd recommend latex teats.

Also, it might not be such a help as you say it's a 'can't' rather than 'won't' issue but this thread is full f ideas for bottle refusers:

I went back to work when my ds was 5 months. This meant I had to get him to take ebm from a bottle, he refused every single type and in the end I put him straight on a tommee tippee sippy cup. He took it really well and never had a bottle at all.
