Hiya all! have been having probs recently with getting my LO to take his comfort milk which he's been on for the last 9 weeks and never really taken too, anyhow for the last month or so he will only take 3oz then spit the teat out and scream if i try to get him to take anymore! (i checked the flow and it's still coming out at this point so teat not blocked and i make it up fresh with hot water so it's not to thick) then he'll wake up really hungry an hour and half later and we'll go through the same thing all over again! he health visitor advised me to make him wait atleast 3 hours to make sure he was really hungry before feeding him which i did and it was awfull, he cried and cried then still only took 3oz! he also has been going 3 days without a dirty nappy and hve been having to give him water and juice to get him to go (this is on comfort milk)

anyway when out the other day i had to buy him a carton of cow and gate 1st infant milk.. well he guzzled it down, there was about 7oz in the carton and he took 6! and was settled and happy for 4 hours! then we got home and i gave him his comfort milk and he was back to his 3oz every 2hrs!

I thought maybe it was just a coincidence but i decided after a night of being up every hour and half last night and him only taking 2oz at a time to buy a carton and try him again at home with it...and he did it again! guzzled 6oz and was really happy and smiling and playing instead of grizzling! and then he did a massive dirty nappy without straining (and hadn't had water for over 24hrs) he's now been sound a sleep for an hour and a half

so i'm wondering now if i should slowly change him over, i dont want to upset his tummy but he sems so much happier after first infant milk! i'm wondering if he dosn't like the taste of comfort milk and is only taking enough ease off the hunger but no more, also it seemed to make him bunged up! really want to try and change but not sure health visitor will approve!

sorry for the long post but this has been going on for a long time and really getting us all down, and all tired from being up so much in the night! LO is 18 weeks old real age and 8 weeks corrected age (10 weeks prem) and weighs 14lb!

it's so nice to see him all happy and smiley!

lol,

Helen and Joshua x x x x
