Brooklynn will be 16/17 months old when the new one arrives. How much does a 16 month old actually walk around? How will we get out and about? Do I get a stroller for two or will she want to walk most of the time? One in a carrier and one in a stroller???

What do people do?

I think you'll be best getting a double stroller. Ryan is 15 months old (started walking at 12 months), and although he likes walking around, he can only walk so far on his own without getting tired, and sometimes needs some assistance walking (getting up and down kerbs, stairs, if he runs off) and you may not be able to do this easily while you're pushing a pushchair.

could you not get a buggy board? would your eldest stay on a buggy board

I think it would be best to get a double buggy. My son is 17 months and although hes walking confidently he cant go too far without getting tired or falling over getting up the pavement etc. I think a buggy board is a good idea for short trips but even at 17 months caeden would get tired stood up for too long.

Im going to be in a similar situation, Caeden will be just 24months when baby born and i think even then ill need a double stroller.

we tried a double buggy, a single with a buggy board AND single stroller and a carrier!!

the buggy board didnt work until rhys was around 2 years and we used the double buggy until ffion could hold her head up in the carrier.

now we either put rhys in the stroller and carry ffion (in the afternoons when rhys is tired) or rhys walks/buggy board and ffion goes in the stroller (in the morning on the way to nursery)

I'd get a double buggy, you'll get loads of use out of it at that age as he won't walk far without getting tired and it'll be safer as it'll stop him running off in the wrong direction when your hands are busy with the buggy.

Well one of mine started walking at 11 months and the other at 13 months, and they've been a little behind since they're premies, but i'd say get the double stroller because although they can walk it's not like a normal child, still a little unsteady and it'd be a lot easier when you're out

probably best to get a double stroller or an attachment to put on a regular stroller, but I have seen plenty people also use a carrier for the little one and a single stroller for the big one on short trips, like just to pick up the big one from nursery or something.

Ummmm  what's a buggy board? Not sure if she will stay anywhere as of yet. She isn't walking right now but I'm thinking it's likely she will be by the time the new one arrives.

This is a buggy board, but kieran didn't use his properly til about 2,

Definatly worth getting a double, at 16months they are still really slow walking and some can still be unsteady, you'd definatly get the use out of it.

We still use are double once a week to go to toddler group because they are a distance away but most of the time we use a buggy board x
