Seems i posted in the wrong area - oooops
I was due on August 24th - needless to say this did not happen. Little girl was just too comfy
Anyway i got to North Manchester General Hospital at 9am on the 5th September , only to realise we'd left our bloody green notes on the kitchen side lol!!! Drama - me and the OH were so nervous i think we'd of left our heads if they weren't screwed on .
After OH's dad had brought my notes to us (life saver) i was finally given a pessary style tablet at midday at the first attempt to induce labour. Apparently there was a chance it wouldn't work, and i could end up being there for 5 days!! - info i wish the midwife would of kept to herself tbh as it only made me anxious.
6 hours passed and they checked me internally to see if i was dilating - i was not!! Wasn't even 1cm!!! I was pretty upset by now, i thought baby was never going to come out!! Then half an hour later i started to get very mild cramping in my tummy - i just shrugged it off 'no biggy' i thought, i had my Mother, sisters, and OH with me to keep me company until visiting was over at 8pm.
At 8.30 i started to contract BADLY sods law.... but i was still not dilating!!!! Midwife was giving me codine by the handfull to try and 'take the edge' off the pain - didn't work, then i had a shot of pethadine in my bottom, that kind of worked, i managed to sleep untill 3am when dear god above i thought i was dying lol - i don't do pain and this was hurting, i was demanding more pain relief left right and centre - vaguly remember telling them i was going to 'rip this pessary out and go home if they don't do something!!' *cringe*
Midwife asked me to calm down and she'd examine me again ' she looked at me and said ' wow your almost 6 cms!!' So i was taken down to the labour ward and given my epidural i can't begin to tell you how much i love that drug!!! It made me feel cold, first time in 9 months, and i was so calm.
Baby Lola was born at 7.54am on the 6th September so i was only in 'labour' for just short of 5 hours, i had to have an episiotomy as she was a whopping 8lb 7oz and a little too big for me but after just 2 pushes she shot out. I'm pretty sure something dramatic was hapening at some stage of my delivery as i had at least 3 drs and several midwives in the room at one point checking our heart rates but thanks to my epidural i remained cool as a cucumber which in return kept my OH calm.
I have to say 6/9/12 was the best day of my life our little girly is amazing!!!
