London at Christmas (or any other suggestions welcome)

I'm trying to persuade Chris to take me to London for a night to do some Christmas shopping. But, he says we're very strapped for cash this year. Does anyone know of somewhere else we can go for a night or two to do the xmas shopping?

how about manchester or chester? a bit closer to home, but maybe a bit too close lol you could jusy as easily do a day trip

I no you said you cant afford it but i love london at christmas!! the lights on oxford street, harrods christmas window i cant wait!!! I have the advantage of being a 30 minute train journey away though!! Sorry i cant be of any help!

I've never been anywhere special to do christmas shopping. We didn't even head up to Chester last year, so I'm hoping that we get to do something this year. I'm meant to be at my parents, but, because I'm working boxing day we've got to stay here in Cheshire rather than going to Wales ( ), so I want the xmas feeling to last
