so I am knitting some longies, I am doing 16 inch hip and well I was aiming for a 14 - 15 inch rise but somehow they have a rise of just over 16 inch ..... is this going to work or have i totally stuffed them up??

I don't mind if they don't fit for a month or so, if they can be saved, what length leg would be best with them

I haven't got time to pull them all apart and start again :(

could you just not fold down the extra rise?

The extra length you have knitted has probably come at the gusset, but she'll grow into them! My standard custom 16" hip, 14" rise, have an inside leg of 5". If you make them with a jogging type cuff (ie.ribbed at the ankle) you can make this longer, with a view to folding the cuff at first, and turning it down as legs grow, in which case make maybe a 3" main bit, and 2-3" of welt, which would give you a leg length adjustable from 4-6"
