Looking for work... Pregnant.

I'm 17 weeks pregnant and really struggling for money, I want a job. When do I have to tell an employer in pregnant? I have no bump whatsoever, and didn't with my daughter till I was 30 weeks so I'll b able to hide it for a while yet. Any tips? My husband is working but he was only doing 16 hours as he was trying to set up a business aswel. Anyway we've been told he needs to work at least 24 hours for us to b able to receive working tax credits and his employer can't give him more hours, the business is set up pretty much but bringing in no money yet! So I need to do something till it does!

Legally not until 25 weeks, morally is a different ball game.

Morals don't come into it for me, you need work, you're legally entitled to work, you won't be getting maternity pay off them, so try and get a job then tell them at 25 weeks (unless there are H&S implications)

At first, I wasn't interested in finding another job because I know I'll be leaving after 3 months or so when LO is born and I would feel bad for making my employer have to find another employee so soon. But I feel if I honestly tried to find work, I won't get hired because I'm pregnant and would be leaving soon. But I really need another job, so I think I'll just leave out the fact that I'm pregnant even though it's pretty visible to some people.

I would say don't tell them you're expecting until after you're hired unless you plan to work after the baby is born.

If your OH is setting up a business is he not self employed in this process? Self employment hours can go towards tax credits
