I've just started losing large amounts of blood. I was just standing and felt a gush and went to the bathroom and it was all bright red. I called the me and put on a pad but it was filled in just a few minutes... As I type this it's literally pouring out.

I'm technically in between 1st/2nd trimester (13 weeks today) and had a healthy ultrasound 3 weeks ago. I'm waiting on the mw to come by but I was wondering how common it is to have an mc after seeing a healthy heartbeat? And what the chance is that THIS much blood loss doesn't result in an mc...?

Kind of losing hope here

That sounds scary. I think in most cases a big gush of blood is related to a hematoma/ blood clot. My miscarriage started slowly and weird tingly cramps came immediately.
Definitely go to the ER though and I think at this point they could even ease contractions with high doses of magnesium. Put you on bedrest etc.
All the best!

I had a large blood loss 3 weeks ago, I was 18+4 and woke up soaked. I went straight to hospital and had an examination, they found no new blood which was good. I had to stay in hospital for just over 24 hours and had an ultrasound which showed the placenta was partly covering the cervix. I know how you feel as it was the scariest feeling in the world but try not to worry until.you've seen the mw. I have had a mc too and that started off really slow. Fingers crossed for you, let us know how you get on x

Thanks for the responses xx

Mw has been by and found a healthy heartbeat, and she said the fact that I'm not having any cramping is a good sign. But I've filled 5 pads in an hour (and through most of my clothing) so she's not sure what to make of it.

Mw is sending me to the hospital for an ultrasound, so I'll be heading over there soon. Not sure what to expect :(

Thanks for the responses though, it's so comforting to have responses from others, regardless of whether the outcome was good/bad as then I at least know what to expect...

I really hope your baby is okay hun, as your midwife said it's good that you don't have any cramping! When I had a MC, my bleeding started off light and eventually got heavier.

Thinking of you. :hugs: X

:hugs: how scary for you. It's good you're being checked over. I really hope all is ok for you.

My mc started of with brown blood, then pink spotting and then got heavier with red bleeding and clots with cramps.

xx

I'm so sorry to hear you've had to experience this xx

I didn't want to r&r, I read online that the chances of MC go down *significantly* after seeing a heartbeat, and with each subsequent week of pregnancy.

Thinking of you xxx

That sounds so scary. I'm glad your MW was able to find the heart beat for you, hopefully it makes things less scary. I will keep an eye on this threat, so please update so we know everything is all right!! Keeping you in my happy thoughts, but I'm sure it's just one of those things our bodies do to us when we are pregnant to scare the cr** out of us.

Sounds scary. Hope everything is ok.

I didn't want to read and run. I hope everything goes well for you with your scan. Thinking of you!

I had some thing similar when I was pregnant and it was placenta related , my Lo was /is absolutely fine hun he's now 4 , hope alls ok did u

Thank goodness for a healthy heartbeat!! Keep us updated!!

Oh how frightening :-(

I really hope all is ok x

Thinking of you. Hope all went well at the hospital!

Sending positive energy your way! Thank God they found a heart beat! Hopeful that you find out something soon!

Very scary! Thinking of you, i know that if you fill more than one pad an hour after you have a baby then its a worry and give that you have filled 5 while pregnant worries me. I wonder if you have a low lying placenta.
Big hugs and i hope everything will be ok.
