I have started charting this month and my BBT seem very low - around 96.3 to 96.8 usually. Only on CD13 so not sure if ovulated yet. Has anyone else got low BBT's?:shrug:

it's more about the pattern than the actual temp itself, so if at the end of the cycle you have a nice chart with a good rise to indicate ov etc i wouldn't worry to much about the actual values.

low BBT can indicate an underactive thyroid......but I think as long as your temp goes over 96.8 after ovulation you should be alright....

good luck with ttc!

Will give it to the end of the cycle then before I start to stress about it :)

I started testing my temp a few days ago at docs request i always have a lowish temp 36.2 (c) which is about 97.5 (f) Im just waiting to see if it goes up, due to ovulate July 5th ish time my first month testing temp so just going to see how and if it rises. i wouldnt worry so much just keep track of a rise and when it gets to a peak assume you have/are ovulating, thats all i was assuming i did? xx

I have always had low temps and found out before xmas that i have underactive thyroid, mightn;t do any harm to get it checked if you have a pattern of low temps over the next few months, done by simple blood tests.

I have a normal temp of about 97.3 which goes above 97.5 after ovulation (up to 98.0) and now is 97.9 in the AM and 97.7 in the PM. It was a bit harder to spot the jump in temps for ovulation given the (often) small variation in temps, but that can happen at any temp baseline. I found judging fertility by other signs (mood, cramps/tenderness, libido, cervical mucus) was far more reliable.

Hi Leambh, how low were your pre-O temps? I've had a few pre-O temps falling below 96.8 this cycle, not sure why because my pre-O temps before usually went above 96.8 (although today's temp was 96.93) ... I wondered if it had to do with me starting on agnus castus this month. My post-O temps usually rise above 97.52.

My body temp. is weirdly low as well....and this month is the first month I have been charting, and my temp is crazy up and down! I have no idea when I O now!! Check out my chart to see what I mean.

my temps are around the same as yours. i'm having various blood tests, to see where i stand hormone wise, but my doctor said not to worry about my temperature for now, until we know what's happening with my body!
xx

I was talking about this with my sister yesterday and she says that she has a very low body temp as well and so does my dad. Is it possible for it to be genetic? My temps seem to be all over the place so I am worried that I am not ovulating :-(

Same here...I'm trying to figure out where to draw the baseline. Seems like its high after ovulation but not high enough for pregnancy? I've taken every test known to man. Every thing looks great even FSH = 7.0. Cycles are exactly 24 days. Any thoughts?

Started temp at CD7 (missed the chance to start earlier). Same time every morning.

CD07 97.4 F (36.33 C)
CD08 96.7 F (35.94 C)
CD09 97.2 F (36.22 C)
CD10 96.7 F (35.94 C) CBFM Estrogen surge (PM) - BD (AM)
CD11 96.4 F (35.78 C) CBFM LH Surge (PM); OPK lite but visible (PM); BD (PM); O pains
CD12 97.0 F (36.11 C) OPK dark line (AM) and lite but visible (PM) - BD (PM)
CD13 97.4 F (36.33 C) nausea all day
CD14 97.9 F (36.61 C) nausea all day
CD15 97.5 F (36.39 C) no symptoms
CD16 97.6 F (36.44 C) no symptoms
CD17 97.5 F (36.39 C) no symptoms

I've had low temps too. Not too sure what to think, but they do rise after O, so I haven't been too concerned yet. I have my normal OB GYN appt in Oct, so if no BFP by then, I was going to bring it up.

My cover line is about 96.45, so I guess mine are pretty low. I did have a lot of pre-o temps above my cover, and not many very much lower. It seems pretty low since we're taught a normal temp is 98.6. It's lower than that when you first wake up because your body hasn't really been working hard and creating heat while you were asleep. As long as you have a reasonable pattern and a normal waking temperature, I don't think there's anything wrong with you.
