I had a scan yesterday at 6 weeks and the doctor saw a gestational sac and yolk sac and said everything looked fine except for the baby looked a little low in the uterus. He said this could be just how it looked or the shape of my uterus or it could be a sign of miscarriage. I am not having any bleeding or symptoms but am now completely freaked out. Has anyone had this?

Never experienced this but didn't want to read and run. Hope everything works out for you

I haven't experienced this either but I think its a good sign that he said it looks fine except for being low. Some babies implant a bit low down and then as the uterus grows they 'move up' not moving in actuality but the position gets higher due to the uterus stretching. Hopefully, this is what is going on with you. Did they offer you another scan in a couple of weeks to check? I hate is when doctors give the worst case scenario like that when they aren't sure, it freaks people out!

When I went for my 7week scan the sono was all 'I can't see anything...no wait there is baby and HB but your sac is too big this worries me, you need to be scanned again in 2 weeks.' Luckily I knew I was spot on 6 weeks instead of the 7 weeks they thought I was because I ovulated late. I hate that they don't really like to take into account when a lady ovulates! 2 Weeks went by, and behold, there was baby at 8w5d growing perfectly. I swear its in their job description to worry us because if they didn't say the worse case scenario then a lady mc's they are scared of legal action.

I hope all turns out wonderfully for you, and please try not to worry yourself too much over this, stress doesn't help baby, something that some doctors need to remember! :hugs:

Thank you so much ladies. I agree about then telling us stuff scaring us. I almost think that he was trying to protect himself but come on now do you not think I don't have every worry in the world already :). I am still not having any symptoms or anything and haven't the whole time so I will just keep praying for a good outcome. They are doing another scan next Wednesday to see if they see the fetal pole and heartbeat and to make sure everything is progressing. After he told me he was like don't let it worry you. Yeah right! I will make sure to post the outcome next week.

Well had an ultrasound today our little bean has a heartbeat :happydance:. A strong 136. They said everything is progressing well so hopefully it just continues this way.

Yay!!! I'm happy for you! I'm a complete wreck for my first dr visit and I haven't even made it yet!

Thank you so much! I bet. This is all very nerve wrecking but I am trying to always keep a positive attitude. I wish you lots of luck at your first appointment and a health & happy 9 months :).

Thx- BTW, You'll want to use the codes that start with [ url ] or something for your signature! The one you have on there doesn't show anything.

Hi there, Im new to this forum and found your story while trying to find info about my own case which is similar to yours, I am so happy for you finding a healthy HB! you must be feeling such relief and hope! I am only 5 weeks today and had small amount of brown spotting yesterday, had a scan which shows two sacs of normal size but both laying low in uterus, not on cervix but not ideal i was told. So feeling pretty down and want in gto know if anybody else out there had happy outcomes in such a situation. thanks :-)

if you dont mind me asking how low was low? were you told where in the uterus the baby was sitting at the first scan?
thanks in advnace :flower:

Congrats :) and yes I am super happy. My baby isn't on the cervix but just in the lower part of the uterus since that scan the baby has actually started moving up in the uterus with growth which I hear is common. I am now 10.5 weeks and everything has been great so far with another appt on the 18th. The told me the baby should continue to move up and that the only complication I might have is placenta previa which means the placenta is close to or on top of the cervix and I will have to have a c section. I had several episodes of light brown bleeding between weeks 5-8 but nothing since. I have been told by my fertility doc and OB that as long as it isn't bright red with severe cramping it is usually normal. Just FYI I have had a lot of cramping and sharp pains in the last week or so and it scared me but it ends up it is normal. :)
