Low Laying Placenta

i had my 20week scan last tues - i was almost 22weeks pregnant though

i was told i have a low laying placenta and that i need to go back at 34weeks for a scan to see if the placenta has moved

am i ok to carry on as normal with my day to day life, i dont do anything at th minute.

what is it not safe to do

and i told my mam this and she said she had a low laying placenta to and it moved by the time she had to give birth,

will my baby be ok, as i have read you can bleed? this has worried me

Hi, sorry for the late response but have only just read your post! Just wanted to let you know that I had exactly the same problem with my eldest but the placenta shifted right at the last scan and I had a really good first labour. I didn't get any bleeding during the pregnancy and was able to carry on as normal. However, my friend is currently 35 weeks pregnant with a low lying placenta and she has been in and out of hospital with heavy bleeding every few weeks. She will find out today if the placenta has shifted.

I had this too. It had moved by the next scan and is no longer an issue. I had no bleeding. I think this happens a lot and typically it will move as you baby grows.

Don't have sex or heavy exercise/lifitng- until you get all clear that is has moved. Any spotting go into hospital.
I had my scan at 32 weeks and it had moved. only 1 in 100 have NOT moved out the way by term. Don't worry. 1 in 4 women have this at 20 weeks scan. big hugs xxxxxxxxxx

i ahve had no bleeding so far, and fingers crossed i dont get any - i am hoping that it does shift, as my mams did, so all i can do is hope that it moves by my 34week scan!

i keep worrying i am going to start bleeding coz of it, now i know about it i cant stop thinking bout it

defo not going to have sex it isnt worth it, just in case, not that desperate or needing of it, so would rather not if it means i wont bleed, have been fine so far when having sex but u just dont know

Try not to worry - you'll be fine. i felt the same but had no bleeding - and you've not had any this far so i would guess you won't have any. Big hugs xxxxxxxxxxx
ps remember it doesn't affect baby at all - just mean it maybe c-sec delivery but even that is v. unlikley as it will move. so chin up.

Hi I am 25 weeks pregnant with the same condition I havent been told not to have sex or not lift heavy things etc and so far touch wood I havent bled
I also though I dont know if its bcos of the placenta my baby is growing slowly hsi spine and head are behind his limbs by a week I have had 5 scans so far and am having another at 29 weeks, atm my consultant says I will have a csection at 36 weeks, I take heart that bubs is moving all the time and his heartbeat is strong though I must say I fretted more till I got past 24 weeks ie v day now I have niggles and worries but \i just carry on as normal and try and not read too much of the internet on the condition as it scares me.
i was told in my last scan beg of this month that my placenta wont move now which is weird as i have read threads where mums have been told to come back at 32/34 weeks to see if the placenta has moved, but who am I to question why. I get regular scan of my little boy and whenever i have been worried about twinges I have turned up at the emergency doctors and got checked out and listened to babys heart beat which always makes me feel better.

I am at 32 weeks with a full previa that hasn't budged. You don't really need to worry about your baby, usually this is nothing that affects the baby just gives the mom a ton to worry about. I am having my baby in 12 days and I haven't had any bleeding at all and mine has been a really bad scenario. Hope for the best, and careful what you read. There are so many horror stories out there but lots of great outcomes too. I think people like to talk about there scary experiences more than the good!
