Low lying placenta and previous c section scar :(

Iv also been told this, aint to concerned as iv had 2 previous c-sections so more than likley i will have one this time

Were you told that the placenta was low lying near the cervix? Was it anterior?
I'm so worried wish I has your confidence hun xx

tbh they didnt really say all that was said was my placenta was lying real low :S
wouldnt say i had confidence love Im shittin having a c-section as previous ones i was knocked right out and wasnt aware of nothing.. this time looks like ill be awake and im shittin it cant even watch any1 on tv having a section makes me feel sick

I had complete anterior placenta previa at a scan at 16 weeks. I have had two previous sections and they checked and said it didnt seem to be growing into the scar tissue at that time.

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow so will see if it has moved any. I'm not especially worried, what use will worrying do? It will either move, or it won't. I'm not wasting any time panicking about something I have no control over.

Hiya!! I've had 3 c-sections and was told that my placenta was anterior with my second, but it moved out the way by the end of the pregnancy.

The thing you are referring to is placenta accreta - your chances of this are 1 in 2,500. it increases slightly with each c-section, but still, the chances are slim. If anything, its always better to know about these things in advance, so try not to worry, you will be well looked after.

Incidentally, I had a private scan on the 14th January and my placenta is again, low lying anterior. will find out for definite at my 20 week scan but I'm not worrying - just because that's where it it, doesn't mean the placenta is accreta.

Try not to worry, I'm sure you will be fine x

Shexishell - you cant see anything unless your theatre has a big silver light fitting like mines did, and I saw a bit of gore....but honestly, its not as bad as it looks on TV, they hide everything from you with a screen (although your birth partner might see some bits...)

still shitting it lol .. its the thought of havin an epadoodle lmfao

That's a doddle!! A sharp sting is all you feel, honestly. I am terrified of needles and even been known to pass out when getting bloods taken and I have handled it three times, and still managed to get myself preggers again - honestly, you will be fine. Its not as scary as everyone thinks. :hugs:

Thanks for the post hun!! That is reassuring to know that your placenta moved for your second pregnancy. When you say low lying was it low down covering the cervix too? Good luck with your 20 wk scan hope it's moved xx

Had my 20 wk scan and baby is healthy and fine however recieved a bit of a shock. The ultrasound tech said that i had a low lying anterior placenta. She didnt say anything else and said hopefully it should move up as bump grows.
However i came home and googled it and realised that there is a massive chance i could have serious complications as i have a previous c section scar and the placenta can grow into it!!:cry::cry:

Has anyone experienced this but found that the placenta moved off the scar without growing into it?:cry:

Don't worry hun. I had my scan yesterday & got the exact same results. But at the same time the tech told me the chances of Previa r more & not placenta accreta. Also accreta is a rare chance if it hasn't started already. Don't think too much & don't read net material... Everything will be fine.

Thanks Mommysbaby. I know I need to definitely stop googling!! I saw my doc today and she said it wasn't definite that i would end up with accreta as it is common for the placenta to move later on. Sometimes I just get sooo low. I think its mainly because I had a still birth 3 yrs ago because of a dodgy placenta ( not previa related) then when I got pregnant the second time at 35 wks I was told the same thing was happening with my daughter but thankfully I had a c sec and she made it! Now with this pregnancy it's yet another problem with the placenta!!!
Is your placenta antetior low lying too? Have you had a c sec before too ?

Not over my cervix that I am aware of, it's right at my scar. Covering my scar, but trying not to worry :)

Thanks - scans on 8th so will update then :)

If it not over the cervix my doc said there is a very good chance it will move hun!! Good luck and don't forget to update x

My doctors told me early that my placenta was antorior i am now 28 weeks pregnant and at 27 weeks it was still antorior when i went today they said that the tech put it as posterior. my doctor was really confused he thinks she scanned me wrong he said a placenta never goes from antorior to postorior this will be my 5th c-section and i am freaking out the doctors are gonna do anouther ultra sound in 1 week to see what it says has any one had that happen where it went from antorior to postorior after prior c-sections i am really confused and my doctors are specialist and there just as confused as i am
