So at my anatomy ultrasound the tech mentioned a low placenta, but then didn't seem concerned. I've since read a little about it and I'm a little worried it might lead to c-section as I want to attempt vaginal.
I'll definitely ask the doc at my next appointment just since it's been playing on my mind. It also worries me that they weren't concerned yet research shows it to be kind of an issue.

Also I feel kicks/movement still under my bellybutton at 21 weeks. Is that normal? I feel like he's just so low still...?

At 20 weeks I was told that I have low lying placenta. The high risk ob did not seem concerned as well :/ he didnt give me any instructions on what to look out for. Just sent me on my way and told me not to lose any sleep over it. I have a follow up at 32 week to check placenta again. I had a csection with my first, have anterior placenta again, so I'm hoping I will not need a hysterectomy with this one.

I had a low lying placenta with dd3 and was worried too as like you I wanted a vaginal delivery. I went back at 32 weeks for a follow up ultrasound and it had moved up out the way. The midwife had told me that most do and it was only a small few that caused problems, didn't stop me worrying though. :)

Try not to worry! At 20 weeks the location of the placenta is just an indication--as your uterus grows there's a good possibility that the placenta can move up (and "low laying" doesn't necessarily need to be a problem if it's not blocking the cervix).

I had a low placenta with my second baby (and started out low as well with my third) but both times it moved up before 30 weeks.

And is this your first baby? Everything grows/stretches at a slower rate (generally) with your first than with 2nd/3rd/etc. I know some people who have small/low bumps till nearly 30 weeks (I'm at 24 weeks with my 3rd, and while I feel like my entire stomach is sticking out, I also feel most kicks below my belly button) so not necessarily anything to worry about!

I have a low lying placenta as well but my doctor seemed sure it would move up in time. Also, at 21 weeks the TOP of your uterus is at your belly button line (for most people) so to feel movement below your belly button is completely normal. If you felt it over it would be kinda weird. :hugs: The best advice anyone has given me is to not to worry until someone tells me to. I've already started natural birthing classes...I'm just going to carry on like I'm going to get a normal delivery, then just hope for the best!

Thanks girls, glad to know I'm not alone and I shouldn't worry. It's scary being a first time momma!!

The past 2 or 3 days I swear I felt him by my rib cage a couple times too...and of course I thought it was strange, but he has def made a lot of room lol I'm huge (all baby) so I imagine he is in his glory rolling about!

Mine was very low at 20 weeks...now at 29 weeks it moved up safely out of the way.

I had this with ds3 was told about it at 20 weeks and booked in for a repeat scan at 32 weeks. I was told that in 95% of cases it does move so hopefully won't be anything for you to worry about. It can be serious if you start bleeding though so don't be afraid to phone your midwife/doctor if you have any - my midwife didn't make this clear to me at all

I had a low placenta with my last pregnancy even bled at 20 weeks but was fine and it had moved out the way by 33 weeks most do c
