Hi all- I am wondering if anyone else has had experience with low progesterone. My 6 week results are back and my progesterone was only 7. The doctor seemed more focused on my hcg- which she said was so great- at 36,000 (v. high!) She said she can give me pg. supplements even though they are not proven to work.
I took prog. supplements last pregnancy.. My prog. was barely at 6 that time. I had a mmc at 9.5 weeks. Part of me wonders if the progesterone
pills prolonged that pregnancy (I lost baby due to Tri 15)

I also have been extremely nauseous, bordering on hg, and the progesterone could make all the nausea worse. My dr. suggests I admit into the hospital for 2 days for nausea treatment.

Just a tough situation. Googling shows me that progesterone under 9 usually means a non-viable pregnancy. I will be 7 weeks on Monday, so I plan to go in for an early scan then.

Not sure what I'm asking here, but guess just wondering if anyone has an opinion on low prog. and super high hcg.

Thanks!

Hi hopie
Sorry I may not have the best answers for you but my gynae didn't check my progesterone levels explaining that it fluctuates. Coupled with the fact that there is no harm in taking supplements she started me on them. Of course it will make bloating and nausea worse but it helps with implantation.

It may have held in my second loss (trisomy also) for longer but I guess it's a risk I would take for a better chance of a viable pregnancy! For my third, I was also on progesterone supplements but stopped after 12 weeks.

Hungry- thank you! Yes, it really is a risk worth taking to be safe. Glad you are doing well!

What did you decide to do? my progesterone was only 10.5 at the beginning of this pregnancy and i believe the supplements really helped....im 17w4d now whereas i couldnt make it to 7 wks my last 2 pregs with no supps. I understand where you're coming from though with not wanting to prolong the inevitable...really hope it goes well.
