Hello Ladies

I have been TTC for 18 months or so without success and have been charting my temperatures. I do ovulate and bloods tests etc are fine. What I am concerned about is that my temperatures are very low - 35-35.9 before ovulation 36.3-36.6 afterwards. I am also struggling to lose weight on a very low cal diet and have reynauds (where your fingers go white in the cold). I have been told all these are symptoms of thyroid problems but have had thyroid tests that show nothing.

Has anyone had similar symptoms? I am concerned that these symptoms may be what is preventing my getting pregnant. Am due to talk to my GP again tomorrow but fear getting fobbed off again.

I dont have any direct experience but i think it is worth persuing thyroid thing-a friend of mine was recently investigated and they tested her a few times, its my understanding that what i considered'normal'levels varies from country to country and also person to person so being in the normal range for you may be to low-hope that makes sense??just be brave and tell dr's of your concerns and other symptons and that you arnt happy for it to be left and see what he says?hope you make some progress with it soon
x

Hello, like toby2 said it may be worth getting checked for thyroid but chances are everything will be fine. I too have temps as low as yours, and my thyroi is fine and my FS isnt worried about them at all. Providing you can see a clear temperature shift for ovulation is the main thing. xx

Just a quick update to this - I paid for further thyroid tests privately and have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. It's not bad enough yet to be picked up on a standard thyroid test but may well be bad enough to cause infertility. I'm being treated now and my temperatures, and energy levels are rising. I'm hopefully I've found a cause to my problems.

So if you have similar issues PLEASE get a proper set of tests including one for Thyroid antibodies - that's the one that picks up Hashimoto's.

I am so glad you have got to the root of the problem. Hope its not long before you get that :bfp:

That's really good news! I hope it's quickly followed by more good news...a BFP :)
