Lower right sided pain for the past week.

Well its been 6 weeks since I had my little girl and for the past week I have had horrible lower abdomen pain and lower backache. Mostly the pain has been on my right side which comes and goes in waves of tingles. I can still move about and do things but its really getting me down. I went to the docs at the beginning of the week as I was worried it was my appendix but he said he reckoned it was just a combination of my periods reastablising and the fact that I have been quite stressed and down in general. Has anyone else had the pain I'm describing for over a week and its been your appendix? Or could it be something else?
