maddi has thrush

my poor baby, all week i have been treating it as bloody nappy rash! i even went into our dr's surgery and they got a nurse to ring me and told me it was nappy rash! i should have stuck to my guns and took then, i feel sooooooooo bad.

i thought i was her stupid teeth coming through, she has it on her bum and it looks so sore she isn't even complaining, she's been a pleasure today, and soooooo funny, we've played the best game where she comes to me, reaches for my hands and stands up.

how can she be so loving and happy to me (she even curled up and went to sleep on me, she hasn't done that in ages, always goes in her cot) and i've been letting her suffer all week, i feel terrible for her

Aww hunny don't feel bad, the doctors gave you the wrong diagnosis, how were you to know? They're the proffesionals. If she is still able to play nice games with you and give you cuddles then it probably isn't hurting her as much as you think. Hope it clears up soon

Awwwww poor little girl xx you werent to know hun, its not your fault. My brothers little girl was treated for nappy rash for 2 months before they discovered it was thrush. give her some hugs from me xx

thanks ladies it looks awful, like a flash burn if you no what i mean, and so red and hot poor little thing so glad we have found it out, got cream and should clear up soon, thanks again girls x

katie had it in her creases and i thought it was nappy rash. they told us at her 8 week appt it was thrush and i felt so bad! the cream cleared it up in days tho xx

Out of interest what does it look like? Grace doesn't get nappy rash round her front very often but on her actual bum, when I've cleaned her recently there is like a thick red line. It doesn't look particulaly painful or sore which is why I haven't taken her to the doctors

its on her actual bum cheeks, they are really really bright red, and hot, and it spreads outwards, where the skin has gone kind of lumpy, like welts if that makes sense honey? x

Poor wee love. I hope she gets better soon.

Don't blame yourself. Babies suffer from these sort of things all the time and it often gets wrongly diagnosed. You just did what you thought was best.

oh hun i did the exact same thing with lily months back, shed never had nappy rush so i just assumed it was that, treated it like nappy rash, went to get her weighed and the hv informed me it was thrush! i felt like such a fool but canisten cleared it up in no time! XXXX

oh thanks em! so glad to here canisten cleared it up, just what she prescribed, am so pleased. the hv had even seen it last week and said it was sodding nappy rash at least its getting sorted! x

Awww hope it clears up soon!! Ellie had it and i didnt know after a few days i went to the doctors and they gave me some cream. Strangely Ellie didnt moan about it either! Oh and it cleared up within 2 days.

completely understand bexy! maddi sleeps through too, so we used to have all sorts of problems with nappies - found the huggies baby dry works brilliant when she doesn't have thrush!
