i've found a campaign by a very brave lady working to ban glass from late night bars and clubs. its called bottlestop and it makes me appreciate everything i have i just think she's amazing! shes been nominated in tesco mums of the year as they have a 5 year old and an 8 year old.

anyway this is the story:

In the early hours of 4th April 2012, my husband, Phil, was the victim of an attack at a corporate event in London. He was stabbed in the left side of the neck with a bottle severing the 2 main arteries. He lost 5 pints of blood. Despite the Royal London Hospital team's best efforts, the blood loss caused severe brain damage which, over 4 days, lead to his brain dying completely and his ventilator being turned off in the early hours of 8th April. His death is devastating. I can not - and will not - let this happen to another family. Please help me.

its the court case of the man responsible this month and they are trying to get enought signatures on the petition to take it to parliament by then

She seems like such a wonderful woman so brave and the love she has for her husband is amazing.

I saw this on the news a while back and joined her Bottlestop page on Facebook and shared her petition. I think what this woman is doing is great and I hope she gets the result she wants

Here in hamburg, glass isnt allowed outside on the Reeperbahn , Hamburg main going out/party region. Even the supermarket doesnt sell glass bottles, and you arent allowed to go out with a glass if you are in a pub, or bar .

Here it says weapons are prohibited monday to sunday and glass containers are disallowed fridays, saturdays, sundays, and before holidays from 22 to 6 h.

God this is so upsetting. I can't even begin to imagine not having myOH anymore, it is a real phobia of mine.

What an amazing woman and mother...

She has been nomiated as Mum of the year in Tesco's magazine :) She is pretty amazing, especially to of begun this campaign much less than six months after her husband died. Inspirational.

Awww bless her!!! i hardly go out to pubs/clubs but i do agree when people get drunk/into a silly argument glass starts flying. I signed the petition as i cant ever imagine losing my DH

I know it's awful I don't usually get involved with things like this but I can't get her out of my head - hence the thread lol hoping I can get a couple of extra signatures!

This is one of my fears about going out. Alcohol makes people unhinged! Its not just someone being struck by a glass or bottle..........its when your in somewhere and there is clearly broken glass on the floor. I know its not serious, but I have had to pull glass out of my feet before as its gone THROUGH my shoes.

Bless her heart what a wonderful woman.
When i worked in a nightclub bar couple years ago now, they had banned glass bottles in there bar i do think it is the way forward.

i joined thisa while ago, what an amazing woman so sad to see some of the stuff she puts :( they have pin badges on for profile pictures now i like and share all the time but no one is interested which is a shame.

I signed, looked through her pictures on her bottle stop page, some of them had me in tears:cry: really hope this spreads so she can get all her signatures.

How fab. In all the clubs we have we only had plastic bottles and glasses after a pub in the sane town some got stabbed with a bottle and another young man with a ashtray. We banned glass after those accidents. Such a sad story but what a amazingly brave lady. X

i know i share it on fb all the time and noones interested! i think people get spammed by so much stuff they dont take any notice. i know it was only by chance that i clicked on the page because i never normally would!

Everytime i read one of her updates i have to stop myself from crying.

Glass bottled have been banned in a lot of establishments around here; in certain neighborhoods they don't serve drinks in real glasses either, just plastic cups. A friend of mine was glassed when a huge fight broke out at a local club one night, it was awful. :(
