I could swear my HV back in England told me it's ok to prepare food with whole cow's milk from 6 months onwards. But now I'm second guessing myself.

I want to make my 8 month old some baby cereal (BLW is not going so well lately :dohh: ) and am not sure if I'm allowed to use cow's milk or if I have to use formula! Given that he might not eat any of it, it seems such a waste of formula if cow's milk is ok.

Any thoughts?? What do other people make up baby cereal with?

my hv told me i can use cows milk in cooking and porridge etc so i guess its okay if you heat up the milk? i have been using formula with my lo's baby porridge but may start using whole milk with readybrek now.

Thanks. :) Yes it'll be heated in the microwave.

Yep I'll second the PP, apparently you can use cow's milk in things, just not as a straight drink. I'll hand express some breast milk if I'm feeling adventurous in the morning we have cereal (some days is toast, eggs etc.) but if not I'll put on a splash of cows milk.. he really doesn't like cereal though, he prefers to dip his shredded wheat in yogurt

They recommend cows milk in cooking from 6 months, help there calcium/dairy intake.

I was pleased when my LO hit 6 months and I could use cows milk in her food instead of formula (can't express for toffee, lol) much easier!
