I might have to switch to formula feeding as LO is nearly 3 weeks now and won't latch on, have discovered she has lip tie. Just been expressing and bottle feeding so far so don't know anything about formula!

It says on the tin that you have to let the boiled water cool for 30 mins - how is this possible if your baby is crying to be fed in the middle of the night? You can't just turn around and say to them sorry can you wait half an hour :S and since you have to use it within an hour of making it up you can't prepare bottles in advance. Confused!

Not many people do what the tin says.

You can pre make feeds, rapid cool them and store them in the back of your fridge for 24 hours.

Alot of people just add formula to room temp water.

Or you could let the water cool to a drinking temperature and store that in a thermal flask theories little one needs a bottle use the water out a flask.

Or have room temp water on the side.
If you were making 4 ounces boil the kettle and pour one ounce into bottle and add four scoops, this would kill any harmful bacteria, then add three ounces off room temp water measured in a different bottle to the scoops and boiled water. (you would need to measure in a different bottle as once scoops are added to the one ounce and shook it will measure to more diamond ounce on the bottle)

Hope I've made sense and helped x x

Diamond = than one
theories = then when

sorry on phone x

There are 3 ways to combat the waiting time.

1. Use a flask. Boil kettle, leave to cool for 10-20 mins, fill a thermos flask with the water. When baby needs a feed decant water into sterilised bottle, add powder, shake, cool in a jug/bowl of cold water for 5-10 mins. Test temp and feed.

2. Premake and store in the fridge. Boil full kettle. Leave to cool for 20-30 mins. Decant water into enough sterilised bottles for 24 hours worth of feeds. Add correct scoops to each bottle, shake, cap and cool them all in a basin of water for 10-15 mins. Place bottels at the back of the fridge. When baby needs a feed remove a bottle and heat in a bottle warmer/jug of warm water. Check temp and feed. Discard any unused feeds stored in fridge after 24 hours.

3. Pre-make with just water. Boil full kettle. Leave to cool for 20-30 mins. Fill a days worth of sterilised bottles with correct amount of water for each feed. Cap bottles and leave on the side so water will become room temperature. When baby needs a feed add correct amount of sccops to one bottle, shake and serve. If baby prefers warm feeds, warm water in a bottle warmer/jug of warm water before adding the powder.

Hope this helps xxx
