My little girl seems a bit colicy and im getting increasingly irritated by the tommee tippee anti colc plus bottles that i have. The more i speak to people whose babies have colic, the more im told the tommee tippee bottles are crap; i wish id have known before i bought the entire bloody tommee tippee range! Not just for one but for TWO babies!

I am looking at getting the MAM bottles now, but wanted to ask what is the minimum i would need to purchase, i dont want to buy unnecessary items. E.g. the bottles are self sterilising so i dont need to get the steriliser? I was looking at just getting a couple of packs of 3 x 260ml bottles and some teats. Is that all i would need? Which teats would i need for my 11 week old?

Any help would be MUCH appreciated! Thanks so much xxxx

hi. sorry to hear that you have a coliky baby. my baby is 16 weeks old now and we use the mam anti colic bottles as harry had terrible colic,im not convinced that the bottles alone solved his colic as we were using infacol and colief aswell. as for sterilizing,i just use my avent sterilizer that i used for my other two children and it works just fine. at around 11 weeks harry was on size three teats as he was getting worn out and frustrated with the size two teats. has your baby only just started being 'coliky'?

Hello nutshake :hugs::hugs:

I have been through so many bottles with Isla. We started off with tommie tippie ctn bottles and i have to agree crap lol.
We then used dr browns and little one would not drink from them :growlmad:
Next was the MAM bottles. Little one took to them strait away but i have to say they made no difference to her painful wind. Very nice bottles though. I just used my normal TT steamer and microwave sterilizer and it was fine.
Next we tried avent. Oh my these were the worst ever. :growlmad:
We are now on Dr browns bottles with a mam teat lol. These have worked fine. I have however moved her up a teat size as she was beginning to get very windy again. That has now settled her back down. Sometimes if they are sucking on a smaller teat and it's not fast enough for them and there sucking and sucking but not getting much or collapsing the teat it can cause more wind.
Hope this has helped :hugs:

Hey hun, we used MAM bottles with Maddison as its the only bottles she would take. We had 6 bottles in total (from birth-last week (Shes almost 1), we used size 2 teats from her being about a month old because with the size 1, she struggled to get enough milk out. I think you get size 1 teats on the bottles, your LO might be ok with them but buy a pack of size 2 just incase x

We tried, TT, Avent, Dr Brown and MAM were the only ones ours would take, they are really pretty bottles too! They are brilliant, but ours were particularly colicy so not sure from that point of view. I just take them apart and put them in the TT steriliser but its helpful to self-sterilise if your out, we did this the other day at OH parents house as we werent expecting to be there for 2 feeds. We use the size 2 teats so I would definitely say get them too and we've got number 3's ready to use. I would recommend chemist direct they are quite cheap, thats where we got ours

we switched from TT to MAM too. The number of bottles you need depends how often you are prepared to clean/sterilise them I guess. I have got the starter pack plus bought six more so there's always a clean supply - intending to make up a day's worth and store in fridge so didn't want to be cleaning/sterilising them all the time.

Thanks everyone! I bought 4 bottles per baby and have been using them for the past 3 days, all good so far! And they are so pretty :-) xx

We have 9 MAM bottles, but that's because I bought a pack of 3 from ebay to try as TT were awful. Once we discovered that the MAM bottles and teats were so much better, I bought 2 packs of 3 from Boots, only this time I bought the self sterilising ones which you can put in the microwave to save having to take the steriliser when we go and stay at my Mums. MAM say that size 1 is up to 2 months, size 2 is 2-4 months, size 3 is 4-6 months, and size X is 6 months onwards.

If you have a TK Maxx near you it might be worth going in there to see if they have any as they stock some MAM bottles in my local one.
