so im confused.... can we bath a baby when their stump is on or not? I know waula bathed Noah so i assume we can? Not sure why but thought we might have to ''wipe'' baby clean until stump falls off so as not to get it wet?

its just im sooooooooooooooo excited to put digs in the ''tummytub'' that i dont think i can wait....

ft- im not sure about putting them in the tub while they still have the cord nub. i dont know what they say nowadays and didnt ask. i know when my girls were born they said to wipe it with alcohol pads. and with my boys they said not to bother. i dont do a full bath til its off, just wipe them down. i think the dryer you keep it the better, but dont quote me on that.

and speaking of... masons cord nub fell off sometime in the night. he has the cutest belly button

I bathed Edith but avoided her stump. rather than immerse it I gently cleaned around the base with water and cotton wool. Only did this once or twice as it started to dry and come away.

FT- we were told not to bathe the boys in a tub until their stumps fell off. (It took about 10 days). I believe it has something to do with decreasing the chance of infection and speeding up the falling off process since the drier it is, the faster it falls off. With each diaper change, I would soak a q-tip in rubbing alcohol or use an alcohol pad to wipe around the base. This keeps it clean and helps to dry it out more.

FT - I thought over here most babies get a bath in hospital???! We didn't but most people got showed how to bathe them on the ward... Eek hope we did the right thing with bathing him with his manky stump on...have a look at this https://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/newborn/babysnavel/
