Maren?

Any thoughts on the name Maren as a possible girls name? I have been drawn to this name for as long as I can remember - not sure why! Does anyone know anybody called Maren?

I am also not sure of the spelling. I feel like Maryn might make it more likely for 'Mary' to emerge as a nickname, but I'd like to stay away from nicknames honestly. And if the spelling was Marin, it might be more likely to be pronounced like the county in California. So I'm thinking Maren would be best, but I'm open to your thoughts.

Btw, the other contenders for girls names are: Ella, Esme, Madeleine

I'm not keen, only because where I live in Australia there is a crayfish species called marron..... So Maren just made me think of fishing
