Peel spuds, cut into even chunks, bring water to the boil, add spuds, cook on a simmer for approx 20 mins or until you can get a knife through easily, drain, mash, add butter/milk or cream, mash some more and then serve x
Dont over cook them or the mash will just taste of water xx
yeah I find 20 minutes is about right - chop them into chunks and make sure the knife easily slides into them. I like to add butter and a little milk, then get going with the masher!
Don't do what my OH did once and pour loads of milk in at once so the mash is like liquid add a little splash, mash, then a touch more milk if you want it, and so on until you get a nice smooth texture.
mmm.... I LOVE mash... wish I had some spuds in right now! x
