I'm not very clued up about maternity allowance. My partner and I are currently TTC baby #2 but with my first I wasn't working but I currently work a minimum of 9 hours per week to about 40 hours per week. In my company handbook it mentions about maternity leave but doesn't really explain it well, I've asked my boss about it & he said I would be entitled to it. Is there a particular stage of pregnancy that you need to leave by or can you work up to 4 weeks before your baby is due? That way you get more time with them? Or do you have to leave earlier? Any advice would be great :flower:

I am assuming that you mean statutory maternity pay as opposed to maternity allowance? That's normally for self employed or those who haven't been at a company long enough to receive smp. On maternity leave you get paid for the first 26 weeks and then unpaid for the last three months. You can leave at late as you like. I don't leave work until the 39th week of pregnany.
