I have the number if you need it!

It's a nightmare to get hold of! I literally can not find it anywhere on the internet. But i have just managed to get hold of it by ringing a benefits helpline number (i was on hold for about 15 mins just to get this number -.-) So here it is if you need it! 0845 608 8610.

I know a lot of people wonder how long a claim takes.. I sent mine off on the 21st Septemeber. A pretty straight forward claim, i hadn't been with my employer long enough to recieve SMP. I just rang them to check it hadn't got lost in the post because i'm a paranoid freek haha, i didn't expect them to have processed it yet but to my delight it had been processed on the 3rd October and i am just waiting for my form to come back in the post so i can confirm when i want paying from ectt.. I think i got quite lucky because even the woman on the phone said she didn't even expect it to be processed that quick, on average it takes about 3 weeks.

I'm pretty clued up (i like to think) on maternity allowence and how it works now so if you have any q's i'll try my best to help you out :)

hey there, tHANKS FOR FINDING THIS NUMBER, i have had bad experiences with claiming benefits in the past, to the extent where i gave up and moved in with my parents at 30! Im not even pregnant yet but i'm already planning ahead and I hope I will be entitled to MA. My job is a short term contract initially it was for 12months, and now it been renewed for a furter 4 months. obviously I hope its extended again in feb but im not sure. Anyway do you think I would be entilted to any MA should I get pregnant in the next month or two?! haha cheers xx

As long as you have worked 26 weeks in your test period which is 66 weeks (i think) upto the week your baby is due and have earned more than £30 a week over the space of 13 weeks in that period then you can. But if you have worked for the same employer for 26 weeks or more into the 15th week of your pregnancy then you are entitled to SMP anyways :) So it might be worth checking with them if you are entitled to SMP first?xx
