Just wondered how much you will spend/ or what you will buy. When pregnant with my dd, i went a little mad and had quite a lot of things. With my ds i also had quite a lot of things...but i know better this time. I live in leggings atm and i will probably buy one pair of mat trousers [ jersey stretchy wideleg type] for work.. a couple of tops, a skirt and maybe thats about it. What about you? I really dont want to spend money on things that will get very little wear out of them. I also cannot stand maternity clothes really. I am in two minds about a coat. I am only nearly 14wks atm but then when i am 20wks it will be around January and it will be freezing. Really not sure what to do about that!

uhmmm i dunno really - i brought some tops and thats about it really as im still wearing my work trousers but with the button and zip undone (i must look like a tramp!)

But definitely just buy normal tops and not too many maternity tops as i find wearing strappy stretchy tops is comfortable and alot cheaper than maternity tops! although i've brought a few for comfort :)

I say dont buy too many maternity clothes as they'll just get wasted after and costs a bomb!

Hi:happydance:
I'm on my 5th baby and am in the same position, I'm 16 weeks and have put on alot of weight (and bump) already. Ive really only been wearing leggings and a stretchy dress but am going to have to buy a new coat at least.
Probably like me you have a budget as its Christmas and with 4 children already I'd rather not have to buy any new clothes.
Are there any clothes swapping/donating sites about that anyone knows of?
I gave so many maternity clothes away last time I wish I had kept now xx

Really cant afford to buy things anway as im trying to save for my mat leave. I would rather wait and buy some nice things when i have had the baby tbh. I was just a bit curious about what others are doing. I really have so many coats too...but just cant justify spending on a coat that will do me a short time.

I thought my ds was my last lol...so got rid of all my stuff too. Mind you, i didnt ever have a maternity coat. I really dont want to buy maternity clothes so am going to see how long i can go. Yes, Christmas is an expense as it is!!!!I have looked at coats on ebay ..you could try there. Not sure of anywhere else tbh. x

I'm trying not to buy much! I have bought a couple of maternity tops that will hopefully last me till the end. Can find any maternity trousers that fit so live in leggings out of work and have bought normal black work trousers in a bigger size! Going to try not to buy a maternity coat as they're quite pricey!

I have got a good few things in TK Maxx, long jumpers to wear with leggings and I got a lovely military style jacket that double buttons at the bust n then hangs from there, should last me a good while as I expand and it was only 30quid! Bargin!

Ive started looking at the maternity stuff in the shops but they do seem more expensive than regular stuff. I got a pair of jeans from ebay for £14 and yesterday i went to a NCT nearly new sale and got another pair of jeans and 2 maternity cardigans for £11 for all 3 which i thought was a bargain. Think that will see me through for a while. i hate this stage as my regular jeans fit but with the button undone but are not so comfy, but the mat jeans are still quite loose.

With Amelia I bought 2 tops and 2 pairs of jeans that were specifically maternity wear.

I took to borrowing my mums clothes (she has nice clothes) because she is a size bigger than me so I spent a lot of time in normal dresses and leggings.

And I got given a few maternity tops that I wore towards the very end when nothing would fit me, along with my previously bought jeans.

This time I've bought 1 pair of straight leg maternity jeans and three maternity tops that I'm waiting to arrive.
I've got three pairs of leggings and a pair of jeggings that fit/are too big so will be able to fit into those and I still have my 2 tops and 2 pairs of jeans I bought last time to wear too.

I want a nice dress to wear for xmas but I cannot find one anywhere so I'll have to wear one of my floaty dresses from my wardrobe

xXx

I'm not trying to promote a brand or anything but I can highly reccomend ASDA. I bought a several tops, 2 bump bands, a nice party dress for xmas and some maternity jeans and it was very reasonably priced! I know most like to manage with what they have but I couldnt bear some of my clothes as they were way too uncomfortable. I have been in maternity tops since 14 weeks and I am intending to use the ones I bought post birth as well so I will really get my moneys worth. Hope this helps :)

Asos has some gorgeous mat dresses, some of them are not that expensive too. You should have a look!

I got rid of all my things too as hubby was adamant 2 was enough ... muahahaha, even I am astounded by my powers of persuasion :)

Anyhoo all I have bought so far are:
3 pairs mat jeans £15 (ebay)
2 tops from next £36 (not maternity but the type that tie at the bottom and are meant to be baggy so I'll be able to wear them after the baby's born)
2 tops from Primark £6
4 vest tops in a couple sizes bigger from Primark £6 (I wear them with cardi's I already have as I don't do them up)

I'm not planning on buying any more clothes as like you say they'll get little wear. I will have to buy a coat though as mine won't do up anymore. I had a look in Tresspass today and I can get one for £21 which will do me all winter and will be a good spare after baby comes if my other is in the wash even though it'll be a bit big.

Definitely check out ebay, there are some fab bargains to be had on there!!

I found it so much easier being pregnant in summer with clothes!!! I just had a few vest tops, gypsy skirts and a pair of jeans and i was sorted! This time i'm in a right pickle about what to buy as i'm freezing but don't want to look a scruff!

So far I've bought two pairs of maternity jeans- the first pair I bought from New Look and I hate them! I won't wear them again if I can help it. My second pair are from H&M and were twice the price of the first pair but I love them! They are so comfy and they make me look like my old self again.

Other than that I bought a pair of black work trousers, and a white maternity T-shirt as I can fit in all my normal T-shirts still. Oh and I have four maternity bras.

My mam and dad bought me a maternity coat yesterday and my MIL is sending me a top she bought soon. I'm planning on getting a maternity dress for Christmas (ordering it on friday when I get paid- I'm excited haha) apart from that I will just see how it goes, if I need anything else I'll get it but if not then even better.

my mom's taking me shopping next weekend for some new outfits since it's my birthday tomorrow :) i don't plan on buying too much, maybe not even all maternity stuff. just some shirts that will flatter my new figure. i'm wearing a lot of trackpants and tights as well!
