I know its alil early to be talking about this. But do you ladies plan on working your entire pregnancy or taking maternity leave at some point? If all goes well I would like to try and work up to my 34-36 week. But who knows lol.

I have 5 weeks left!! I'm finishing at 34 weeks and to be honest I'm not sure I could work much longer than that. I already feel like I'm slowing down!

I worked upto 38 weeks. And then was 2 weeks overdue and BORED!

I aim to work up to 38 weeks as I did with my first but I remember getting to 36/37 weeks and finding work a bit of a struggle!!

Yea I kinda wouldn't mind working my whole pregnancy but I also think my body needs to rest and relax before the baby comes. Not to mention I'll have a 6 yr old also lol. The down falls is boredom tho lol.

I'm planning on working until 36 weeks but I have quite an active job so I might end up leaving a couple of weeks earlier if I am struggling too much. Either way only 2.5 months left :)

I hear ya. I work in retail and around the holidays its a zoo so id have to see how I feel by then lol.

I'm working until the very end. If I go on leave any earlier, I don't get paid, and we can't afford that.

*sigh* I really wish I got more than 8 weeks off afterward.

I have to accrue my time. By December I should have 23 days, than means I can take off only 23 days with pay. After that I'd be on leave without pay. So my original plan was to work until winter break then take off in January but now my doc may not need to induce at 38 weeks. If he doesn't then I'll have to work down to the last day. Babies come when they are ready, I wish I could plan more but it really depends on the lo. I can't afford to take off early or to take off without pay so I'm saving all my time to spend with my lo.

I worked up to 38 weeks last time thinking I'd have a 2 wk break to relax before baby but went into labour the very next day!

This time I'll probably work till I go into labour. I don't want to use up my mat leave beforehand. We get 3 mths paid mat leave. I'm taking a 3 wk vacation now to get organized though. And I'll have a week more vacation to take before mat leave if I really need to.

I worked to 37 weeks last time. This time I'm tempted to start asap to get out of work, spend some time with dd and not faff with before and after school clubs. So might start maternity at 27 weeks!

First pregnancy, worked til 40 weeks, went into labor on my day off. :)
2nd pregnancy, worked til 34 weeks, was put on bed rest for preterm labor. Was already 4 cm dilated. Went on to deliver at 38+4
This pregnancy, I'm not real sure. Waiting for my dh to get firefighting job then I'll probably work til I'm uncomfortable and then resign to be a stay at home mommy.:happydance::cloud9:

Wow, a lot of these posts make me very grateful to work for the NHS in the UK, their mat leave policy is really excellent and I'll be able to take at least 9 months off without losing out on very much money. I'm only 15 weeks at the moment, but so far planning on working until about 37/38 weeks. I kind of wanted to go right the way up but a good friend told me to take a few weeks off, as it's the last time you'll have to yourself in a long time, so you should enjoy it!

I'm leaving six weeks before due date, as I have two weeks worth of holiday in there too! It's my first pregnancy and I'm already slowing down! Walking is waddling!

I've hated my job for a while though so the sooner the better. I also have to walk up and then down a big massive hill, as everything is paid for parking nearby! This is the only free place that's reasonably secure. Plus the town I work in has a few weirdos. I'd rather be away ASAP!

And I'm hopefully not going back, so we'll see!

About six weeks left, can't wait!

I get 4 weeks before, use it or lose it so I am going out at 35 weeks but I took my 33rd week off and weeks 34/35 only in 3 days each week.

I thrn have 6 months home with baby, only 2 months total unpaid. Still will be a struggle we are used to 2 incomes but it's worth it!!

Yea that's how I feel. Even though we can go into labor at any time, I'm hoping I can have a few days to myself to relax and rest before the baby comes lol

My plan with my first was to work up until he was born. That was the typical at my office because you got a limited time off and most mothers wanted to spend that time with the baby after it was born. I think it was something like 6 weeks w/ maternity pay which is essentially half pay and max of 3 months to keep your job secure, with the maternity pay running out at 6 weeks. I was put on bed rest at 33.5 weeks, though, my son born at 36 weeks. Thankfully I was able to cover my bed rest time with my paid sicks days and vacation days and it didn't count towards my 3 months off since I wasn't actually choosing to be off work. This time I'm not working so I don't have to deal with all the rules.

Well im nearly 25 weeks and finish tomorrow for 6 weeks as I work in a school and get the school holidays off! But then I go back in September up until the 26th when I'll finish for mat leave where I'll be nearly 35 weeks, ready for my c section at 38 weeks!

I'm gunna go on maternity leave when the company breaks up for Christmas on Christmas Eve, that would make me 38 weeks. That's the plan anyway. I'm hoping that when I go that will be it and I'll resign at the same time but if not I'm going to take the full nhs allowance. Xxxx

I'm going to work just as long as he's still inside as long as there are no complications. Every hour I take off before he's born is an hour I don't get to spend with my baby
