Hello hope someone can help,

im 27 weeks pregnant and ive been signed off since week 10 because my diabetes has been bad within the pregnancy..

my employer has paid me in full each month and wrote to ask for my matB1 form..

i sent this is along with a letter asking to go on maternity leave at 36 weeks, and could i take all my holiday for this year before this.. i have about a months holiday left ...

i saw the doctor yesterday and he has signed me off for another 6 weeks.. this would then leave just 14 days of work left. so my months holiday should cover this..

Ive not heard back from H.R its been 2 weeks, do you think it will be ok?

Thanks for reading xx:hugs::flower:

Aw Hun,

I have also been off sick since about 11 weeks I rang my midwife at 20 weeks (as she told me to at my 16 week appointment) and she left my form MATB1 form at reception, I gave it to my employer the next day along with a letter about my maternity leave, ( I asked to take it at 29 weeks) and I heard back from them yesterday via a letter. So that took about 4 weeks Hun. Unfortunately I have only been getting SSP while sick, so now not entitled to SMP but getting MA, but i knew this. have just filled the form in but cant send it till i am 26 weeks!

I am sure you will hear soon Hun, and they will sort you out SMP (as you have been getting paid in full).

If you are worried could you ring in and say you are about to send your Sick certificate in and are just checking they received your letter about maternity leave Hun? A polite reminder then :)

Take care and hope you hear soon.

Bear in mind that you employer can ask you to take mat leave early, if your sickness is pregnancy related.

https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/parents/moneyandworkentitlements/workandfamilies/dg_10026556

'Pregnancy-related illness

If you are off work for a pregnancy-related illness during the four weeks before your baby is due, your maternity leave and Statutory Maternity Pay (from your employer) or Maternity Allowance (from Jobcentre Plus) will start automatically, no matter what you had agreed with your employer.'

The employer should reply within 28 days to your ML request so if you have heard nothing b then contact them.
