Medroxypr Ac 10 Mg questions (some TMI)

Ok first a bit of back story. The past two years I was on my period non-stop, literally everyday. I should have taken stock out in pads Anywho in Aug of this year it suddenly stopped. No spotting nothing. I was hopeful but not convinced it was a pregnancy. We went to a local free clinic and explained what was going on, did about 8 tests over 4 weeks and all were Neg. Then after 4 weeks I had a massive period, huge clotting and pain that would knock me off my feet. It was after this I finally went to see a Doctor for help.

Ok so a bit of fast forward, the doc diagnosed me with Anemia (surprise) and gave me iron pills along with my pre-natal vitamin, and had me start Medroxypr Ac 10 Mg on the first of this month.

When my doc told me about this she said it would stop my period for a couple days to "re-boot" my system, and then I would have a heavy period for shedding all the lining.

Now during the 10 days my period never stopped, it got lighter for sure, but no stopping. Now it's 4 days after the last pill and I am having a period from hell. I have huge clots that are very painful, as well as changing a pad every 4 hours. I can "feel" the clots coming and rush to the toilet to "push" them out. (SORRY FOR TMI).

Is this normal for this medication? Should I be calling the doctor? Is there something I'm missing?????

Still bleeding like crazy I can only keep hoping that it will fix my problem and we can bring a baby into our family

So another better update for today, bleeding is slowing but still there. Still cramping like crazy.

Any one else taken this before????

Hi, I had been put on this about 4 - 5 years ago, same situation as yourself, totally shattered and wore down from the bleeding, and it was heart breaking because of TTC and not being able to due to this.

I went back to my specialist and had the tablets changed, I can't remember the name of the new ones but my periods then only lasted 3 - 4 days, clots eventually reduced, eventually my periods where only coming every two weeks, on the new tablets after about a year and a half my periods became regular and low and behold I eventually got pregnant.

Go back do all you can and keep trying until you get what is suitable for you, its not easy and its a long process but its not half as tiring as having a period every day.

At the time I though it was never going to stop, then it started again after I had my lo, though as bad as it was I wasn't ttc any more so it wasn't heart breaking though I was even more shattered coping with a newborn as well, was alot easier to deal with and after 6 months got it slightly under control.

Thanks, my periods lately have been slowly tapering off, and I'm down to heavy spotting today!!!!! *uber happy* Hopefully things keep going in the right direction!!!!!!!1

Just wanted to update in case someone had been wondering, the meds seem to have worked! I am on day 3 of no and loving it, now to really TTC

think i was on something simular. i bleed for 8 months, it was extremeley heavy where i had to use pads and tampax and change every hour and would still bleed through. since taking my tablets for a few months i have now had 1 normal cycle and on my second one, which so far seems normal. i like you are ttc so hoping that now thats settled down will get pregnant soon.

We're still on cycle one, prolly have a few days till shows up again. Though today I seem to have caught a nasty cold... have got to find a way to get rid of it...

I am currently taking that medicine to get my friend back on track, so I know how you feel. I have two children already but wanting to have a 3rd child and i cant seem to, and my periods have been irregular for awhile now and my gyn put me on this over two months ago in June and it gave me a 4-day friend in July but nothing yet for this month so he put me back on it for the next 3 months. I pray that it works this time.
