I've had mixed feelings about menstral cups. I've never used one. Any opinions and advice is greatly appreciated. And don't hesitate to vote on my poll. Thanks ladies :)

Im thinking about getting one for my next cycle lol they seem interesting and a little easier on up keep

I'm totally creeped out by them. I would be curious what others think of them!

I love mine.

In the US the diva cup is super popular, but I found that it was too big for me. It always hung too low and felt like it does when a tampon hangs out (OUCH!). I know lots of women who love it though, and don't have that problem.

I now use the Moon Cup from the UK. I absolutely love it. If you think you're about to start your period you can put it in so you don't have to worry about leaks. No risk of TSS. Only have to change it a couple times a day. Less environmental impact. You only "need" to replace it ever 2 years. Massive cost savings.

And to top it all off, it lets you keep track of how much you're bleeding, so you can more easily note cycle changes while ttc.

The amount of bleach and chemicals put into pads and tampons is horrendous. I love my moon cup. Never going back!

I can never get it in right with TTC.... it all drips out before i can get it in. I have to be sitting up on the toilet to put it in.

I've used a moon cup since 2008 and I'd never go back. Currently on my second one, have saved an absolute fortune!

I use a diva cup and mostly love it. It can be a bit troublesome to get in so I'm thinking of switching to the moon cup soon. I think my anatomy is the reason why I'm having some leakage problems with the diva cup.

I actually started using the Divacup on my honeymoon because we planned on going hiking. I knew that I couldn't go on a 4 hour hike with a tampon. To my amazement it caught EVERYTHING on my heaviest day and I was more than sold afterwards. I don't think I'll ever go back to tampons. I still carry some around with me just in case I'm caught by surprise or my cup accidentally falls in the toilet.

Anyone used these cups for TTC successfully?

My friend who just had a beautiful baby boy used her menstral cups. What she did was every time she DTD she would prop her hips up for 30 mins with menstral cup inserted before the 30 mins started.

It does take some getting used to if you're not sure how to get it in or get it out. It was easy to put in. The trick was staying calm and making myself relaxed so I could get it out the first couple times. Now I'm used to it and I don't see as much leakage issues like I first did when i was trying them out. I use softcups.

Are they hard to clean? I can't remember the site but one lady absolutely hated her diva cup. She claimed it was difficult to use and if you had to change it in a public restroom how embarrassing it would be. With that being said how long can you lean it in?

Mine can be left in for 12 hours or so before I need to clean them or change them. Softcups is disposable so you can always change them every time you take them out. Diva cups, I have no idea about but i imagine you can leave them in a long time without worrying about cleaning them out in the privacy of your home bathroom (it does require planning ahead a little bit) but it doesn't seem to be an inconvenience for me but then again I have shorter shifts for work compared with some people who might be working long shifts.

Diva cups and moon cups can both be left in for 12 hours.

If you have to change it in a public restroom, you can just wipe it out with toilet paper and put it back in; and then clean it when you get home. It's not a big deal.

I use the diva cup and I'll never go back!!

I was getting reoccurring Yeast infections from tampons. It drys out your vagina terribl, and not to mention all the chemicals in the tampon itself!

I hear people say they are difficult to use. Honestly if you're comfortable with your body, they are so easy. Pop it in, give it a twist for suction and you're good for 12 hours!

If you want to empty it you just pull it out, empty it in the toilet and put it back in! Ideally if you're home you would give it a rinse, but if you're our just a quick wipe with some toilet paper and you're good to go!

It's so great for overnight! I hate pads and the chance of leaking everywhere, and tampons aren't good to leave in over night.

You don't even feel it in there.

It's magic. I love it. I recommend it to everyone anywhere.
And diva cup ssays it's reusable for up to 10 years! That's a ton of saved money and environment.

I just wanted to chime in that I use a menstrual cup and will never go back to tampons, ever. I started with the Divacup but like mrs. said, it just wasn't right for my body-I could feel it and it irritated me. Then I tried the FemmyCycle cup and it fits just right! They have different sizes based on your anatomy/cervix. I also like the instead cup for when I'll be out of the house for a while, though I find it is messier during removal. I use cloth pads as backup but find I don't need them much because the cup holds so much that it doesn't leak.

I've tried using the insteadcup for ttc, it worked (got pg but had a mmc) but it could have been a coincidence because I had been trying for about 4 months at that point.

Those who used it for TTC, how long did you leave it in for?

I just bought the DivaCup and getting it in and out was so frustrating. Definitely need more practice. Also the DivaCup seems to be really deep, would that affect DH's swimmers? =/

I would go with menstrual cups. Considering all menstrual protection I if we use menstrual cup we can't go back for tampons and sanitary napkins. In use of menstrual cup we don't need to think about all day to change your sanitary protection. You can keep your menstrual cup coupe menstruelle française french menstrual cup safe up to 12 hours away! A menstrual cup is more discreet than a sanitary napkin and can take up to twice as much fluid than an ordinary tampon without changing or risk of leakage. Otherwise, the menstrual cup has proven to be completely safe for everyday use.

I have a Blossom Cup, which I bought on Amazon. It's absolutely amazing and I won't go back. I found a website that sort of chronicles many of the various cups, their features, sizes, and instructions. I don't remember he exact site name, but it was super informative.

The Diva Cup is the best! It's way low-maintenance (I just empty once a day), SO much better for your health because it doesn't have any dye or bleach like tampons, and it saves you tons of money. If you clean it well it can last for years (I have had 2 in 10 years). Try it!! I know some people are "grossed out" by it, but as ladies we just have gross things to deal with! It's part of your body and honestly kind of cool to be more visually aware of your bodily functions.
