Does anyone know when they start metformin for loss prevention? The Dr wants to test me to see if I'll be a good candidate, and I just want to know more just in case.

If you need metformin it would probably make sense to be on it before getting pregnant, it should help if you have any issues with your cycle. Do you have PCOS or insulin resistance?

You also have to ease yourself onto it as the side effects can be unpleastant. I started 1 a day for a week to see how I tolerated it then went up to 2 and eventually 3 (1500mg total).

It also doesn't always prevent loss unfortunately. I was on metformin since October and still lost my last pregnancy :(

you also need to make sure you don't miss a day of insulin. Otherwise when coming back onto it, you can end up with the awful side effects again. I did that a few times.

And as ttc above me said, it sadly doesn't always prevent it. I've been on metformin since June last year (and on 3 a day since Feb this year) and I'm miscarrying my second pregnancy now.

Good luck though, I hope it makes a difference for you
