Metformin

Welcome both and good luck. Mrs Boots, it's interesting to hear about the diabetes thing as my Gp didn't think it would be a problem.

Back again after taking metformin for 4 days. My consultant said I should start with 250mg a day and build up by 250mg per week. Thank goodness I did start small as I've suffered bad headaches and nausea. Yuk. Finally nausea subsided today but my goodness the headaches..Really hope this doesn't last - god knows what it'll be like on Friday when I increase the dose...

Good luck to everyone else on met...

So... since I started this thread a couple of months ago, I guess I will check in.

Met hasn't done ANYTHING for me. I started Feb 1st and no results. No period, no weight loss. Just nausea. Ick! I go back to the doc in May to get clomid... thank god. I am so depressed that I am the only person I have met so far on Met that it hasn't worked for... this is the first time I have truly felt "broken."

Oh well... I will keep my head up and go back on the 5th! Yay!

Hi gen, im so sorry you feel so down... Keep faith angel..
I have been drinking met now for going 3weeks now and i have lost 10pounds, only because i have been going to the gym every morning, my doc said i can sit back and wait for the meds to eventually work on there own or i can get my bum in the gym and help speed up the proses myself, now believe you me waking up at 4h30am is tough but i have -10pounds to show for it.

Hold on in there gal it will work:hugs::hugs:
And as soon as i get AF as im today CD65:wacko::wacko:, i will be drinking met with my 100mg clomid, good BFP cocktail according to my gyni:happydance::happydance::happydance:

Aww hun, I really don't think you are alone. Stick with it at least until you go back to the doc's. I had my 1st AF within 2 weeks of being on met, but until I get my next one (I'm on CD35 now) I'm not totally giving Met the big thumbs up. I've also had nausea and awful diarrhoea(SP?). I too am going back in May to get Clomid so I'm going to stick it out and try to keep positive. Good luck hun.

I don't believe it, the:witch: arrived this afternoon. I had no idea she was on her way. No symptoms at all. Well I suppose the Met is deffinately doing something.

hiya all sorry ur met still isnt working sarah hope all works well in may :D

My met seems okay now but im only on 1500mg coz i get bad bad symps on 2000mg i have tried it twice!!!! had a mega OV yest tho was in agony!!! lol xxx

Helen - I am so glad the Met is working for you.

When I saw doc at work the other day, even he seemed surprised that it has done nothing. I told him, "I didn't call you because I am trying not to be one of those TTC patients but it really really sucks." That made him laugh!

Honestly, I am not all emo about it anymore. I think at the half way point, I hit rock bottom but now I am 3 weeks and one day from my next appointment where Clomid is probably my next option! [-o< Please let it work.

At this point, I am just looking for OV. Although a :bfp: would be ideal, it is barely even in my scope at the moment.

Hi, I too have PCOS and started metformin last August. I only started TTC about 5 months now. Luckily I have not experienced any of the side effects of metformin. It has regulated my period the last 3 monts I have had 31 day cycle. Unfortumately I have not been able to get pregnant as yet. The Dr Told me he'd like me to try for at least 1 year before we try fertility drugs.

I forgot to tell you guys that I started walking when I went on the metformin and I lost 18 lbs

WOW your weight loss is fantastic!!! what dosage were you on if you dont mind me asking?

Hiya
I been on metformin for about 7 years. I was TTC when I was on it but my ex had a 0 count too so nothing was happening. The metformin was brill for me though, I lost 5 stones and started having periods every 3 mths (not bad as I was not having any before).

years later in a new relationship and I got a BFP even though I was not TTC.

I have asked to stay on it to control my symptoms and to help ward off diabetes in later life. I have a new GP an I am hoping she goes for it, she has said yes for now but said she wants to look into it. I don't want to give up my favorite drug :D

I just had a letter off my new GP. I was only supposed to be on Metformin for 6 months. I been on it for years...
