I am currently taking my 5th round of clomid, and I am on my 3rd IUI. My doctor performs Micro-IVF. You can read up on it at www.haveababy.com.
This is the same as regular IVF. They extract eggs and inseminate them in a petri dish, then they insert them back into your uterus. The difference is the level of medication. They use low stimulating drugs to produce no more than about 5 follicles. Their idea is that these eggs could be better quality since there are less of them (reg. IVF you get 10+).
It is MUCH cheaper! It is about $4,500 I think with meds... compared to $10,000 per regular IVF. The scary thing is that with so many less eggs you run the chance of having fewer go to the blastocyst stage. That is why you have to be under the age of 35 and there are other requirements...
We were wanting to do full IVF in April if this month does not work out. Has anyone undergone this different version of IVF before full IVF? My worry is that I will spend 5K and not get pregnant, but then I will still have to pay the other amount for full IVF (10k+).
I am a candidate for it, so it might be a no brainer, but there really hasn't been a whole lot of stats for this...
Has micro worked for anyone?![Thumb up  ](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/good.gif)
