Is it odd or not normal to give two siblings the same middle name? We planned to just use hubby's middle name for our boys then someone said that it was odd. I was wondering is it OK or is it not normal ? I'll stick with what makes us happy in the end but I am a bit curious now if that's weird?

Iv never heard of this before. I don't suppose it matters in all homesty

I think it's a bit weird- but definitely go with what you want to do! It's not like you're giving them the same first name  but it's not a common thing at all I wouldn't say.

I wouldn't say it's particularly odd. People give sons the same first name as their father etc. While it's not done often, if you want to, I don't see the issue hun.

It's certainly not the norm but don't let that put you off. It's not something I would do either.

How about a name to honour another family member? Or a variant of your own name for one of the middle names?

I talked to hubby he didn't really think about it either. We decided to give one his and the other my dad's middle name. That way both have middle names from family. :)

Thanks ladies!

I see you've updated, but I was just going to mention it seems a bit abnormal seeing as they're twins too, I think. There are so many names out there that I'd think of different ones personally.

I think people talk more about middle names than they are actually used. My 2 sisters have same midde name. Id never even thought about it till I used forums. Just thought my mum was unimaginative lol

Not unusual to me, I know a girl who's middle name is the same as her siblings which is the father's name. In her religion it's customary for every kid to share the same middle name. I know quite a couple people actually lol.

I really don't know much about how middle names work, my family just passed theirs down but it's just me and my brother so he got my dad's and I got my moms.

When we talked about it we figured we just pass his down and never really thought about it. After we talked we decided it's better to do different ones.

I do agree I think it's talked about a lot but really I never use my middle name. Kind makes you wonder why it feels like you want a middle name even if you never use it lol.
