BOY! As yet unnamed little chunk of a boy - 8lb 12.5oz - arrived rather frantically at 14.34 on Sunday, 1st Sept.
Here's my birth story (it was fine bit got a bit scary towards the end)
I had a bloody show Saturday morning at 5.30am - so much so, i was woken by the feeling I'd peed myself! Saturday afternoon at 5pm I started getting 7 mins apart. By 8 they were 5mins apart but the hospital told me to wait til they were 3mins or unbearable.
It got to 4.30 and at 4 mins apart, I was really struggling so went to the hospital and was 5cm.
They could get a great trace because of baby's position and decided they needed to put a clip on his head so I asked for the epidural then as it meant they needed to break my waters.
The epidural wasn't fully effective - I had a spot at the right side of my pelvis where I could feel everything so I had some gas and air at times too.
Contractions all but stopped at about 10am so they gave me syntocin which made them come one on top of the other!
By 1 I was fully dilated and ready to push but they wanted me to wait for the contractions to push him down a bit.
I started pushing at 2.15 and his heart rate dropped. By the time he was almost there, they lost his heart beat completely and I had to have an episiotomy and ventouse to get him out.
Thankfully he was out within 8 minutes and is ok. Turned out he was just keen to get his hand out at the same time too!
Anyway, he's incredible - not keen at all on feeding (he's chomping rather than sucking so I've had to give him formula rather than breast milk but I'm not going to beat myself up about it) and didn't settle until after 3am but DH and I are utterly besotted!
