I made a deal with FOB about his commitment to my pregnancy and to the baby once she's here. We basically agreed that I'd send photos and an email once a month after he had paid me child support. We also agreed that he would pay for half of the buggy - this was my test to see if he really would and how committed he really is. He was supposed to have been paid on Tuesday, and then give me some money for the buggy (it's on the mothercare babyplan) but he tells me that he wasn't paid. I (maybe stupidly) accepted this thinking that the job center had made a mistake and forgotten to pay him. So I expected him to sort it out yesterday but he still doesn't give me any money. I rang him today and he tells me he still hasn't been paid, but was on a bus going somewhere ... Well he needed money to get a bus! He tells me he hasn't been to or phoned the job center because he "couldn't be bothered". I think he was paid as he was in my town today and that is a 2 hour bus journey away. He just seems to not want to give me any money towards the buggy, which to me shows he has no commitment towards his daughter at all - and I now have to find the money for the buggy! He's been trying to persuade me to change my mind about him being involved and so this was a test for him to see how committed he really is. Now that I can see he can;t be bothered I am unsure what to do. I went to see a solicitor recently who told me that IF he decided he wanted contact then it would be conditional supervised contact with a social worker - as long as I agreed to it. The solicitor also said that he would still have to pay child support whether he has contact or not, but apparently I can;t apply for it through the government or whatever unless he's on the birth certificate - which he won't be. This makes me think he won't pay me child support ... I don't know what to do now. It makes me angry and upset that he can't be bothered to provide for his own child! I am wondering whethere I should just stop contact with him completly or whether to give him another chance?

It doesnt matter if he is on the BC or not, he will still have to pay Child support. My fob is not on the BC and when i went to the CSA they still would have made him pay. Alot of ladies on here get child support even though the dad is not on the BC :)

Hope that helps a bit!

Agree with Lou hun, child maintanance can still be made to be paid straight from FOB's wages regardless if he's on the birth certificate or not :flower:

:hugs:

He doesn't have to be on BC to get child support if he's on JSA I think they will take it straiht from the benefit. It's not much though.
