Hi,
I am new to this forum and am just looking for some support/advice. I have a daughter who i conceived when we 'weren't trying'.
18 months ago we decided that we would like to try for another but to date have not been succesful. I found out recently that I have PCOS, (not something that i had before my daughter was born). My specialist has put me on Clomid 50mg days 2 - 6 and this is my first month of taking it. Today is day 15 and still no signs of ovulation so not looking very positive that 50mg is going to work for me.
Have any of you taken clomid on days 2 to 6 and ovulated after day 15?

I have just started taking clomid (Im on month 3 taking it cd 3-7) and I ovulate on cd15 or 16 so hang in there.

Hang in there girl! I was on Clomid for 3 months, 1st two months it was 50mg days 3-7, I didn't ovulate at all, then the 3rd month my doc bumped me up to 100mg and I used my OPK's religiously all 3 months from CD10, twice a day and I thought I'd NEVER see a positive...finally on CD 19, I got the closest I've ever gotten to a positive (I attached a pic below, I was still convinced it was negative), so I went back to my doctor a week after that, I was so frustrated and confused as to why I wasn't ovulating, they did an ultrasound to make sure things looked healthy, she said I had plenty of good follicles and we'd try another month. I left feeling SO discouraged, like I would never ovulate...well much to my surprise, 3 days later, even though I had no symptoms, I felt the need to take a HPT and it was positive!! Turns out I must have ovulated and that my CD19 test was indeed positive (I likely ovulated on CD20/CD21) I was 9 or 10dpo and got my BFP and gave birth to a perfect little boy 7 months ago. Lots of luck to you and lots of babydust!!! :hugs:

i will be starting my first round next saturday. i will be on days 4-8, though. hopefully it works for both of us!

my story is very similar to yours! Fell pregnant without even trying with DD then took 12month of TTC for DS, finally after 6 cycles of clomid I got my miracle baby :) I also have PCOS that wasn't there before I had DD.

I alwasy took clomid from days 2 through to day 6 of my cycle and generally O'd about day 15 but sometimes earlier and sometimes later, I think the latest I O'd was about day 18.

I started off on 50mg but that did nothing so from cycle two I was on 100mg. Is your OB doing blood testes to check your levels?

Goodluck it's a hard road but one that's definately worth it

I'll be starting Clomid on Wednesday (Apr. 27). 50 mg days 5-9. Does anyone know why there are different schedules? Just wondering...

Hi Belliecita- the difference in days to take the Clomid is purely based on the preference of your doctor. There is some speculation that taking it on earlier days (2-6 or 3-7) might increase your chances of a multiples pregnancy by releasing more than one egg when you ovulate, however there is not sufficient evidence to prove that this is true.

There was a small study done where a group of women took it 1-5 and another group 5-9 and from the women who took it 1-5, approximately 24% fell pregnant and from the 5-9 group, 0 women fell pregnant, but again, it was a small study and in general, most doctors agree that it doesn't make a big difference on what days you take the Clomid, nor will it delay ovulation to a later date if you take it 5-9 as opposed to 1-5, 2-6 or 3-7 etc.

Hope that helps :D GL! :hugs:

Thanks baby_hopes. The question didn't occur to me while I was in the doctor's office. FXed about Clomid...hoping for zero side effects!
Love your avatar pic, btw!!! Darling!!!

You're welcome :winkwink: LOTS of luck with Clomid, it worked for me to conceive DS and I will be on it again when we TTC #2

GL!! :hugs:

Thanks a bunch! We didn't have any probs the first time around with kidlets...I have a 19 year old and a 17 year old. DH and I decided we want one more, a little late in the game, but fortunately my OBGYN is very positive. We're really hoping it works too! Enjoy your little one...they grow up sooooo very fast!

It's never too late for another baby right? :D They're just amazing and you're so right, boy do they do grow WAY too fast, my DS is only 9 months old, but I look at pictures from when he was first born and it feels like ages ago! I'm ready for #2, a little scared of how I'll manage 2, but most people have more than one child so I know it can be done lol.

You'll do great with 2! It really isn't as difficult as you may think. My two are very anxious for us to have another one...my daughter keeps bugging us and asking "what's taking so long??" My DH keeps telling her he's "doing the best that he can" and "we are practicing!", which is met with a grossed out look! Ha! Kids!

Were you ovulating regularly before Clomid? I think this might be my first cycle on Clomid (will know tomorrow whether I get the prescription) and I was ovulating regularly before but the FS said that she thinks the Clomid + Progesterone should make my cycle stronger and more normal (I lost two MC recently early on, possibly because of hormonal issues). I have been reading that some people don't get the BFP on the 1st or 2nd month of Clomid but 3 seems to be their magic number. I'm hoping that it will work for me the first time around -- at least not prevent ovulation since I think my cycle is pretty regular... It may not sound like a big difference waiting two cycles or getting the BFP first time around, but I am getting so impatient! I just want to know what secret recipe will *keep* me pregnant! :)

LOL, that's hysterical! Well hopefully you can share a BFP with them very soon, I am the 2nd oldest in a family of 6 and I remember being thrilled every time my parents had another, so exciting!!! :happydance:

LittleBird- for me it did take 3 months, but that's because the 1st two months I was on 50mg and it wasn't strong enough to make me ovulate, so month 3, I took 100mg and got my BFP. As for helping "keep you pregnant" I had to use progesterone cream my entire 1st trimester to make sure I didn't miscarry since I had twice before, so maybe that will be what works for you as well :D

GL!!

Yep, progesterone is part of the game plan too. I really hope it works for me, but that's the same thing that worked for my BFF and I have heard it works for a lot of people so I'm more hopeful than scared. :) It HAS to work!!! That's cute how you used to be excited waiting for another sibling to arrive. DS1 is 5 so I don't know how much he really thinks about stuff like this, but we were talking about it the other night. Too bad he's not old enough to get grossed out. The idea of that sounds like a lot of fun. My Grandma and Grandpa were always pulling stuff like that on us. :haha:

iv just finshed my first month on clomid im on 100mg just got see if i ovulate if not my dose is being upped to 150mg :)

Wow, they started you at 100? I just got the call from the FS today saying they're calling in a prescription for me. I don't know whether it will be 50 or 100, but I thought they usually start people at 50. To me, it doesn't matter whether it's 50 or 100 or 1000 as long as it works! :) Maybe I should head out to the pharmacy so I'll know once and for all!

Absolutely, progesterone is a SUPER big help in maintaining the pregnancy in the 1st trimester, it's like an added security blanket :D it definitely put my mind at ease knowing I had that bit of extra help to keep my baby in there!

Aww, 5 is such a great age, I was 6 when my first sibling arrived and I remember it like it was yesterday, I'm sure he will be SUPER excited once he sees your soon-to-be growing belly :winkwink:

Lots of luck!! :hugs:
