I know how you feel, my FOB hasn't bought or offered to buy anything, I haven't even heard from him in 2 weeks...they should be required to help with buying/setting up things to prepare for the baby, the same way they're required to assist financially after they're born! It is a hard place to be, but just think, if you can get through this part (and it sounds like you have), you can get through anything!
As for him being the "fun parent", I have the same fears, I just plan on being as fun a parent as I can be - I don't have to spend $ to take him to the park/zoo/do fun things at home. Also, you're "mama", and he can NEVER compete with that - he can buy all the fancy gifts he wants, but when something is scary or your baby's hurt, he will want nobody in the world but you!
Regarding the family/friends, I'd say keep as much control as you can - go talk to a lawyer or public assistance to see what you can do and what you need to do to establish guidelines for visitation, etc. Good luck, everything will work out somehow!
