If your a second time mummy did your little ones take to a Moses basket? Lots of people keep telling they are pointless and baby won't take to it.

My SIL gave me hers as my niece doesn't like it. I'm planning to put it in my room for baby to sleep in for a few months until I feel ready to put her in her own room. The cot I have for her won't fit in our room so I don't no what to do if she doesn't like the Moses basket.

Can anyway recommend anything to get her to take to it? Or what else I could get for her sleep in.

Thanks

Both mine loved the moses basket. I used to swaddle them in a shawl and just lay them in it. During the day they just slept unswaddled xx

Sorry I'm new to all this swaddled?? Is that wrapping them tightly?

Ds hated it but I think he was too heavy for it - the bottom sagged.
He was much better in the carrycot part of the pram and the cot.
Xx

My son was fine in his Moses basket had no trouble at all although he outgrew it by 3 months of age and then went into cot. When I have this baby later this year he will be having his brothers Moses basket which I have kept x

I have one from forever ago, My mom gave it to me to use with babydolls. I'm not sure I'll use it for LO though, My mom bought a bassinet so I won't really have a use for the moses basket.

My DD LOVED her Moses Basket! She slept in it until she was 6 months old!! I was reluctant to move her into her cot as she slept so well in the basket. I think she liked being cosy and contained :)

Also, just to add, we have a gliding crib too (the plan was to have the moses basket downstairs and the crib upstairs) but DD never slept as well in the crib. I think because she felt so exposed. Luckily the basket fitted inside the crib so it was a glorified rocking stand lol!

we are not planning on using one this time, ds was only in for 3 or so months so just going straight in cot and putting some padding (rolled up towel) half way so makes it half the size :)

Katie used hers for 5 weeks before going into her cot, this baby will use katies old moses basket at first too :) xx

Mine hated it. We moved her into a cot a six weeks old. With this one we will probably put him/her in a swinging crib to begin with in case they hate moses basket like their sister did. E slept so much better when she was in the cot!

Think I'll try her in the Moses basket but if she doesn't like it I guess I'll get a crib or something. I do have a carry cot with my pram so I could try that. I'm just trying to save a little cash since I have to spend a lot of money on home improvements from now until she arrives so I'm hoping she will take to it, at least for a few months anyway.

Thank you ladies use have been a great help xx

I think it depends on the baby so something you can't pre know.. My son was in a rocking crib so bigger than Moses, he was 75th centile so not massive and he was struggling for space at 10 weeks in there because he hated being restricted. He'd fight his way out a swaddled and slept so much better when we moved him to a big cot. Some babies like cosy, wrapped up, being held all the time etc some are the opposite and like to be left to it, space and to be free! In essence if you want one get one, don't expect it to last too long whether they like it or not!

my lb was in his 6 weeks and then moved him to the cot I have the clevamama foam sleep positioner thing an he slept like a dream in that I rember he'd bash off the moses basket and be cross he was awake when he was trying to sleep lol! this time I have a carrycot for my pram, and a cradle like the other ladies have mentioned I have the option off the basket again if I want not sure yet though
