Well my scan was the most disappointing scan I have ever had and I've had quite a few scans before, the woman had the personality of a brick and wouldn't let my husband move his chair from where he was to see properly and I couldn't really see anything from the angle I was at, she was just like it has two legs two arms, heart, stomach, kidneys all look good but in the most robotic voice ever, any time I moved to try and see she told me to stop and keep my head down and lay straight, I've never had a scan like that, I think she was just useless at it to be honest and she was moving all over the place and really digging in, where as before they didn't need to move that much and it was just little twists and you could see the baby as clear as anything, the two pictures I got are shocking, the are so blurred, she didn't even show me them, she just handed me my folder and told me to go to the midwife and my pictures were in the back, I nearly burst into tears when I seen the pictures, I know the most important thing is that the baby is doing well and all is good but this is my last baby and I wanted a nice picture and to get to see it properly, my husband seen how upset I was so he has booked me a private scan for Sunday and I can't wait. My 20 week scan with my son was such a positive experience they were so friendly and explained everything we were looking at and I got to see the baby loads and get good pictures I was expecting the same this time, but obviously they are not all the same!!

:hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

I'm sorry hun, what a horrid experience, sometimes these people are on such a power trip it's unreal xx

I hope you get a better experience on sunday x

I had a horrible scan at 12 weeks and this is my first. Was really upset as I asked her is everything ok? She replied: "well it has two arms and two legs" then when I asked her to stop pressing so hard she told me if I wanted this scan or not? Urgh I really feel for you. Luckily my 20 week scan was better as we wouldn't have been able to afford a private one. Nearly didn't find out the gender though as baby girl was being awkward lol.
Good luck at your next scan. Just know you're not alone as lots of ladies have had crappy scan experiences unfortunately x

Thanks Ladies, yeah we have never opted for a private scan before, well never had the need to be honest, they have always been good and such a positive experience, which I think is why I was so shocked this time and thought maybe hormones and me over reacting, but hubby said it was awful and he would say to me if I was being over the top, so he actually phoned while I was in with the midwife and booked the scan and told me when I came out, he is such a sweetie, but he said he couldn't leave that as our last scan!

Aww that's lovely of your Hubby to do that for you, so kind. Our 20 weeks scan with our first was awful, they had negative news and it was horrid, so this time round I was so nervous it would all happen again. The sonographers hardly spoke to us, they pushed down so hard it was really painful, the photos we got were rubbish too, even more annoying was that we had paid £7 for them. They couldn't tell us the gender because the baby was in the wrong position, so we have booked in for a private gender scan at the weekend. It is horrible when you come out feeling deflated, scans are supposed to reassure you and put your mind at rest not make you feel awful. Hugs x

What a good husband to book another scan, you both deserve waay more involvement than what you got! Best of luck! Name n shame?

The sonographer at our hospital has the bedside manner of a cabbage, shes seen me through 2 MC's and my DS, my 12 week scan was shocking, she said the baby was in the wrong postion, and subsequently turned the machine off.... I was horrified!

Went for a private scan in manchester, and had teh most amazing session, no rush, explained everything on the screen, andwered all our questions, fab, and had the best pics after too.

Honestly makes me wonder why people like this do these jobs!!!

Sorry you had such a negative experience. I had crap experience like that too with my daughter. This is why we're going private as well, as these detailed scans techs aren't always nice. They refused to tell me gender this time as well and hardly let me peek at baby - kept telling me to lie down. So we're going 3D and get to stare at baby all we want in 2 weeks

I always get a bad vibe from the front desk lady at the clinic I go to. The first time I was there, I was the first patient to sign in and other people whom had come after me were already seeing the doctor. An hour later, a nurse finally asked if I was the 8:00 appointment and I said yes. She told me she didn't know I was signed in. I told her I was there since 7:45 and was the first to sign in. I thought maybe the lady at the front desk was having a bad morning. She was nice to everyone else but me. Next few visits, I get the same vibe from her. I would ask how her day is and she just totally ignores me. I don't know what it is about me that she hates, but as long as she's not the one taking care of me and my baby, then I'd just deal with her every week. Yes, unfortunately I go in every week for a shot. I am high-risk. Some people actually enjoy working with patients, and some people just do it for a paycheck. WE just gotta deal with it.

I had a similar experience with my sons 20week scan a few years ago. I don't understand why some people remain in that profession if they reslly don't give a damn about their job anymore. It's such an exciting and important for expectant parents and they should apappreciate that! The lady who did mine was rude, impatient, made us pay for crap photos and didn't even give us much info about how baby was developing. The only thing she did say was that baby had 10 fingers and 10 toes and that wss completely wrong as he only has 6 fingers! I wish I'd complained to be honest. Sorry you had such a bad time aswell x
