 Oh no, I bet you think, another movement thread!

Sorry but I am just confused.

I go between sheer panic and elation when LO isn't moving and then he is.

There is no pattern whatsoever with the movements, he seems to be so random. Yesterday for example, he was a busy beaver all morning then quiet in the afternoon, then active again in the evening, now today, I have been panicing all day as he has been pretty quiet, I have had some movements, but a lot less.

How on earth are you supposed to check and count movements, should they have a pattern?

I have looked on sooooooo many websites and there is so much conflicting advice??

They say call the midwife if the pattern changes, but how do you know when there is no pattern?

Thanks

Good question hun, i guess if they dont have a pattern the best thing would to do what they used to do and try and count 10 periods of movement?

I didn't think my baby had a pattern, and I dont think he does when it comes to the daily movements, but he does tend to have 3 or 4 really active days then he'll go quiet for a day, then he'll be active again for 3 or 4 days (sometimes even more) then I'll have the quiet day again. I think you saw my thread last week about how I hadn't felt him move all day, and then next day bam he's kicking away.

Its really difficult when your baby doesn't have a pattern and I dont see how you can really monitor, some say its fine as long as you have at least 10 movements, but then others say not to count. I really just dont know, but I'm trying to stay calmer these days, and I will keep calm...until he has another quiet day and despite knowing he has quiet days I will go into a panic cos I just can't help myself.

I did read that boys are known not to have a pattern so I'm blaming it on that!
