LO is currentlt mainly BF, with 1 or 2 aptamil feeds a day.

I'm an exclusive pumper and ready to stop being a slave to my breast pump and move to FF.

I never really chose aptamil, it's just what they gave in hospital.

Thinking of moving her onto hipp organic first milk. Is there much difference? Have other noticed any brnefits or drawbacks?

LO has colic and possibly reflux, not the fault of the aptamil of couse but wondering if a formula change may make it better/ worse?

Heya.

Ive heard on this forum and others that Hipp Organic is quite gentle on the tummy and is good for babies with slight reflux (dont know if the science in the ingredients is there to back this up, its just from word of mouth).

We use Hipp Organic with our 7 week old and she gets on really well with it and totally loves her milk! But all babies are different but I would say that there is no harm in giving a different brand a go. xx

Hiya,
I swapped DD over to it last night due to her not really getting along with aptamil! I bought a few cartons first to see if she agreed with it, she loved it from the first bottle! She hasnt spat up yet, however she did bring up a little bit back up when i was winding her, but i think that was down to her guzzling it! xXx

My son seems to have massive issues with aptamil he's 5 week old tomorrow and has trapped wind constantly. I tried him with Hipp he took the first couple of feeds and refused to drink it after that but was still hungry and crying gave him a bottle of aptamil and he wolfed it down so don't think he liked it. I'm gutted as the bottles he did have of Hipp he wasn't sick and appeared more comfortable!

Nessicle, my Lo has trapped wind too giving her colic. She may have reflux so wemight need a special formula rather than trying hipp i'venow been told.

I use carobel feed thickener for my sons reflux (that's basically what the aptamil and cow and gate anti reflux milks contain) it definitely helps.

Aptamil is known to cause trapped wind for lots of babies something to do with the amount of probiotics. It can also make reflux worse as its a very light milk you could try a heavier milk like cow and gate or sma? My daughter was a silent refluxer and she got on much better with sma and no wind x

LO only gets one aptamil feed a day, the rest bm currently.... Do you think all the problems could really be from the one aptamil? I sort of hope so as that would be a very easy fix.
We have a specialist appointment on monday so if he doesn't suggest a formula change then i will add the carobel or swop to c&g then.

I feel so bad i haven't made some food changes sooner to try help her pain :( instead i twiddled around with colief and infacol at the HV and midwives advice :(

It's very common Hun (more known as colic though!) it's nothing you've done or haven't done x

Can you switch cold turkey or does it need to be gradual? Hope your LO does better on new formula :)

You can switch straight away. NHS website says there's no evidence to suggest switching does any harm x

I switched to Hipp yesterday and the difference is fab no wind, nice big poo and sleeping contentedly!

Thank you :) I might just do that then :)

Good to know, thanks, and I'm glad it's worked out so well and so quickly for you! :)

Wow, no colic episodes at all?

My tesco delivery with hipp just arrived, i can't decide whether to just feed 100% hipp ot stick with bm and 1 or 2 feeds of formula.

Did you start the hipp powder? I've gone for the readymade for ease even though it has no probiotic

My baby gets on well with hipp. She spat up a lot with breast milk but a lot less with hipp. We use powder and the pre made in emergencies when out. Keep your aptamil container to put the hipp powder in cos their cardboard boxes with foil are annoying!

I use the hipp combiotic. lo is being sick after feeds he soubds mucusy but he's 5 wks old. surely he still shouldn't have this now?

Well I don't quite believe in colic 9 times out of 10 the issue is silent reflux (wind and excessive crying come hand in hand with it) but I do think aptamil aggravates reflux problems for some reason a lot of people have noticed the same.

We just use the powder yeah x

Again silent reflux - sick and acid cause a congested snotty sound x

have to agree, my baby was on aptamil from birth and had horrific wind. We swapped to hipp and noticed a change straight away. He still has reflux and it didn't really help much with that but I was also using tommee tippee bottles, which made his wind worse because the teat collapsed. Changed to mam bottles which are great except they can leak. But yeah i'd recommend hipp, also its cheaper which is a bonus :)

Hipp is 800g and the others are 900g so not really cheaper it's about the same x

We've made the switch too. It's a shame about not bring able to make in advance, though.

I premade Aptamil night feeds, and just got them from the fridge, where I am going to have to make these up (as you can't have made up bottles over 2 hours).
