Hi,
I think I now belong here. We have been trying for 18 cycles now and have accepted we need some help. We have been to the doctors who was supportive.
I have an appointment for an ultrasound this week. It said it will be external and then internal if needed. I have never had this before.... whats it like? does it hurt? I'm going to a UK hospital for the test.
Feeling very nervous! I've also got a 21 days blood test on Monday. Hopefully it shows I've ovd. Do they use this blood test for anything else or just this?
Thanks, Me xx

:hi: Mexx,

Sorry you had to find your way over here but there are a lot of ladies here going through similar.
Please do not worry about the ultrasounds. They are painless. The external one will just be used to scan your uterus, Fallopian tubes and ovaries. You may need to have a full bladder for this but it's painless.

I have never had the internal scan but that again, I have heard, is painless and will be scanning the above too but they may get a better view if its done internally. The probe will not go all the way in and it will be covered with some kind of sheath and will have lubrication on it. It might feel a little bit weird but not painful. Lots of ladies in the early stages of pregnancy have this kind of scan.

The Day 21 blood test is just to test your progesterone to see if you have ovulated. This should be done seven days after you ovulate.

Good luck  you'll be fine xxxx

^^^^^ everything spockette said is spot on  A transvaginal ultrasound (internal scan) is absolutely painless too, i've had several done and it does actually give a clearer picture of everything. your radiography should tell you everything they are seeing as they go along and don't be afraid to ask questions - it's your body, ask what they are looking at and if it's normal... i certainly did and got answers there and then lol xx

Internal scan is completely fine, it's more embarrassing than anything.

The probe is a bit like a wand a few inches thick which they put a condom and lube over before putting it in. It's not sore at all, you will just feel when the Dr moves it slightly and the lube is sometimes a bit cold.

You will be asked to take your trousers off and be given paper roll to cover you for modesty. I found the scan really interesting and it shows up things like polycystic overies really easily.

Hope everything goes well, it is honestly nothing to worry about it.
