So I have to mpove house before the baby is born. Not entirely sure exactly when I am moving but we know I have to be out of where I am by 11th December - 1month before due date. So FOB tells me I am NOT ALLOWED to move house. I have NO choice and HAVE to move - where I currently live I can't have a baby here. FOB knows this. I'll still be in the same area though so it's not like I'm moving countries or anything. But also FOB wants to move to Scotland which is fine with me, cos as far as I am concerned as far away from me and my baby as possible is better ... But he claims I am never allowed to move out of the county ...
He is not going on the birth certificate, so does anyone know the rights I have about if I ever wanted to move away from here in the future? I think as he is having nothing to do with my baby that I can if I want? I don't need his permission surely?!

oh bloody men.... mine was trying to pull off the same thing although he doesn't even bother asking how the baby is doing.

i don't know how it is handled in UK, but i figure similar as down here in south florida: as long as he is not on the birth certificate, he has no paternal rights and you can move your happy butt and baby wherever you want. if he'd really, really want to be involved he would have to go through the court system, get his paternity established and only then could you be told to not move anywhere more than X miles away.

as i'm a german citizen here in the usa and my baby will be a dual citizen and i don't know yet if i'll be able to make it down here financially due to outrageous rent and childcare costs, i need to keep my options open of moving to another state or back to germany. if i would put my FOB on the birth certificate he would have automatic rights to deny me to leave the state or country.... yeah right! that's NOT gonna happen! :)

From what I'm aware, if he's on the BC then he can get something that stops you from going out of the uk permanently.

if he's not on the BC, i'd assume he'd have to prove he's the dad.

Not planning on moving out of the UK but am keeping my options open for moving out of the county ...

This is correct

This is why I didnt put fob on my sons BC too.. i dont want his "permission" to go where I want to go. I told myself if he was going to act like a man, step up, pay support etc.. i'd amend it later on.. sooo glad I did it this way! bc so far he hasn't done anything except be a prick to me!
:) I guess the only downfall would be trying to collect child support through the courts here since he's not named on the certificate.

you can move anywhere you like within the uk xx
