This thread is long overdue, I've been one busy mumma so haven't had the chance to write this until today! Be prepared, it's very long!

At 40+11 i gave birth to my chunky bundle of joy. Lewis cunningham arrived at 11.17am on 21st may weighing a lovely 9lb 3oz :cloud9:
I had 2 'failed' stretch and sweeps on 39+5 and 40+7, although they made me lose a lot of mucus plug/bloody show and dilated me to 2cm so i wouldn't class them as failed, i think everything helped :winkwink:
I went into hospital 6am sunday morning (20th) to be induced, i had a pessary inserted as i was 2-3cm and my waters were 'bulging'. By midday i was having painful contrations about 2mins apart so they removed the pessary as it was overstimulating me and baby. I was left to contract naturally in the afternoon.
The labour ward was completely full so i was on a waiting list to go down and have my waters broken. Yes, a waiting list!
I felt like a product on a conveyor belt in a supermarket!

Overnight i was being woken up every 30mins with contractions, i walked around the ward, bounced on my ball and refused pain relief as i thought i could cope... :haha:
My husband was due back in to see me at 8am when the visiting hours started but by 6.30 i was in the toilet every 5 mins grunting through the pain, i was writing them down and it got to every 1-2min apart lasting up to 3 mins each. I still didn't want to call for a midwife as i thought i could breathe through them... at 7.40 i hit the call button. I'd had enough.
I just told her "I can't take the pain" and she replied "we're moving you down to labour ward" HOORAY!
I made a quick call to my hubby and mum to hurry on over.
I'd just been moved into my delivery room, been introduced to my midwife (who was amazing by the way, lots of respect to the nhs midwives!) when my DH walked in, and my mum arrived minutes later.
My labour:
All 2 hours and 47 mins of it... I was on the monitor as my MW was asking me questions and taking notes, the pain was getting worse so she decided to break my waters. After she had done that, i had 2 hours to progress otherwise i'd need the drip and an epidural. Hell no! i just remember refusing to stay on the bed. I was standing up, swaying from side to side through every contraction. I'd been introduced to gas and air by this time and it was my best friend. The tube didn't leave my mouth once. I felt so drunk! By half 10 my MW persuaded me to get on the bed to be checked and i remember my DH asking how far dilated i was. Her reply? "I can't feel any of it, emma you can push when you're ready!"
It took me less than 45 mins to push.
The best way to describe the pain? Like someone is inflating a balloon down there and it's on fire at the same time. I've never felt a burn like it.
I had my mum and DH either side of me telling me they could see his head, i wanted to stop pushing as i was exhausted but hearing my DH's voice made me carry on.
At 11.17 he came out, he gave me lots of internal stitches and a lot of blood loss that resulted in me nearly passing out twice (i had to use a wheelchair that day) but i am so in love!
I will certainly do it all over again. It's true what they say, when your baby is placed in your arms the pain just goes away. Well worth it! :happydance:
Here's my handsome little prince with his daddy:
