I have 8 month old twin girls who were born at 37 weeks by planned c-section. They are reaching most milestones and doing things on target for their age however aren't sitting up yet unaided. Isn't the expected time for sitting unaided by 6-8 months?

Another reason I am worrying about this is because my son who is nearly 3 has gross development delay and hypermobile joints. He didn't sit up until 19 months and is still unable to walk.

Does anyone have children who weren't sitting up by 8 months?

My friends little boy is 8 months and isn't yet sitting, he'll just flop forwards. Neither the doctors or nursery are worried yet they did give her tips on how to encourage him though so maybe speak to a health professional for some advice xx

They don't worry about not sitting until 12 months.

Mine didn't sit up till 9-10 months, she's always been physically behind. It's been noted in her records but nothing serious

I actually can't remember when DS2 sat but it was late, I think possibly near 10 months, he was crawling and very mobile but he literally wouldn't sit still. Then all of a sudden one day he sat up. He was on average for all other milestones.

No, my son couldn't sit up at 8 months, I remember posting a worried thread on here too. I can't remember when he did do it but he was walking by 11 months

DD1 was born at 27wks and didnt sit up at 8 months(corrected) :hugs: dont panic!

My son was born at 40+6 so much later than your twins, he didn't sit until 7 months and 3 weeks of age. He crawled, pulled to stand and cruised before he sat!

I had a thread on here somewhere about my twins not sitting up either. I kind of expected it to happen magically at 6 months and it didn't, and I panicked a lot about it. In our case they both sat up at 8 months, but hardly ever for very long, I was never sure if they didn't choose to or didn't want to. Now at just gone 10 months they sit a lot, one crawls and stands up and sits, the other more passive one sits a lot too and has just started going from lying down to sitting. They never liked tummy time earlier on, though once learnt to roll they both spent a lot of time on tummy, now the one that crawls doesn't as he prefers to crawl, sit and stand. So yes, at 8 months mine didn't seem to sit either, they always seems to fling themselves back in a dramatic fashion X
