Ok.. so I am really confused to if I am doing things right?
He is now 21 weeks old (5 months on the 5th Jan). He is on Aptimil first powder. At night he will take 1-2oz and then go back to sleep... but then 1 hour later he wakes again and does the same. Its like he is sucking and sucking but barely taking much milk. I have changed his teats to fast flow.. and also tried variflow. The teats he is now using collapse because he is sucking so hard?

Anyway.. in the day if I am lucky I can make him go 3 hours between feeds but he won't take anymore than 5oz per feed. I am getting to a stage at night where I no longer warm his milk up because by the time I have warmed it up he has screamed the house down and woken up my 2 year old.

I am wondering... am I feeding him wrong? Is he a hungry baby and should be weaned or on hungry baby milk? Does it matter how much milk he takes? How long should an almost 5 month old go between feeds?
When he was breastfed he was going 3-4 hours.. and I have been told by so many people that formula is heavier on the belly and so they go even longer? But instead he isn't going as long at all.
He seems quite unsettled at the moment.. but started refusing the breast so thats def not an option anymore :(

Also.. I keep feeling a little depressed and emotional over giving up breastfeeding.. even though I know its the best thing for him.. he wouldnt of refused the boob if it was the right choice!!! Please reassurre me about how good formula feeding is :) x

aptamil is a very thin milk i would consider changing to cow and gate. My cousin put her baby onto cow and gate after trying aptamil because aptamil just wasnt filling him up x

also what bottles are you using? If its tt ctn ones you need to squeeze the valve in the teat otherwise the teat does get sucked in x

I agree about the valves if you've got TT bottles. If they're stuck (which they always are when they're new), it's ridiculously hard to get anything out.
